It will be similar to football. Their fans don't show up (unless it is football and wrestling) all year until Rose Bowl or NCAA tourney in their back yard.

I've heard early reports of at least 12,000 Iowa fans expected in Des Moines for the tournament.

Where are the reports? I wouldn't doubt it, but just haven't seen anything. I would guess most of those 12k don't have tickets to the games, unlike many folks on here who did buy them already.

Where is everyone selling? StubHub? NCAA ticket exchange? Hawkeye message boards?

I use Stubhub and craigslist... Stubhub's fees are ridiculous but you don't have to try to meet up with anyone and deal with the monetary transactions.

This is a really stupid question. But how does Stubhub work for the seller? How much are the fees? Do I send the tickets to the buyer? Or does it go through someone else?

You list the tickets at the price you want then Stubhub gets a 10% cut of that plus they tack on fees to the seller. When your tickets sell they will let you know and they will give you a UPS 2nd day air label to print. You drop them off at a UPS center and away they go. You get paid by Stubhub when the tickets are delivered via check or Paypal. You can toggle the prices to show with fees from the filter/options menu.

Example: I listed my tickets at $730 ea. so I got $657 ea when they sold ($730-$73) but the buyer paid $866.65 ea. with Stubhubs fees.

Depending on ticket price - usually about 5-10 bucks /ticket. If you have paper ticket - all you'd have to do (in most cases) is put in bar code and it'll provide eTickets to buyer. So no mailing/face-to-face interaction.

You don't even interact with buyer. I just get email that my tickets sold and expect deposit in my PayPal.

Biggest thing to note is if you sell to a friend or elsewhere to make sure to delete your listing.

I received my tickets yesterday. Looking back I paid $260 each for All Session ticket (3 tickets) and my seats are terrible. Section 317 Row Q. Look to be highest possible seats in arena. How were seats assigned?

I am in the same boat. I should've paid closer attention because it seems like most season ticket holder's got down in the bowl.

Maybe because I live in Council Bluffs and work in Omaha, I don't understand the single-minded Hawkeye hatred. Rivalries are one thing, to hate about it every minute of every day is another. I would like to point out that the Hawkeye game was a true road game for them, and we've had two games at home in Hilton where we fell apart at the end.

I don't understand why people can't understand this :jimlad:

Walk into a bar in Tuscaloosa and say, "I hope Auburn wins today, aside from that one game a year, I'd like to them them do well." And I'm sure everyone will agree with you . . . :twitcy:

The point is that it took IOWA STATE being the official host to get the NCAA Tournament in Des Moines. Otherwise, Iowa would be playing in some other location out of state. Easier travel for the fans. You are right that the path for a 1,2,3 seed is pretty similar regardless of location. That's all. Maybe Iowa can return the favor one day?

If any former ISU wrestlers make it to the US Olympic Trials in IC this year, you're welcome.

Sadly, not quite the same level of national attention and crowd-draw that the NCAA basketball tournament (even the early rounds) generates, but definitely a good get for Iowa.

Now, level up and host the NCAA tourney rounds in the future.

We're season ticket holders. We're in the corner, but in the 100 level seats. We bought when they were first offered to ISU season ticket holders (and no, we're not big money donors - we sit in the corner balcony cheap seats at Hilton).

My only take on it is that it is great for ISU to get the nod....however...If Iowa State isn't allowed to play in Des Moines because of hosting then Iowa shouldn't be able to get the spot either...fair is fair.

We all know that's not how the NCAA works, but it should.

That makes no sense. Where do you draw the line? What's significant about Iowa to exclude them? In your scenario, would Creighton get excluded? UNI? Kansas?

I don't think you know how it works. Jamie didn't HAVE to offer to host the site. He did it because he is smart, though. Sure this year we can't play there, but what it does is when this is a smashing success in Des Moines, it will open the door for DRAKE to host in Des Moines next time. This would allow ISU to play in Des Moines. The NCAA wasn't going to grant Des Moines the games without Iowa or ISU being the host the initial time.

This. So ISU stepped up to the plate, and it turned out that Iowa is actually going to reap the benefits. I would actually expect THEM to host before Drake (with all that AD money they brag about)... :)

Interestingly, if you compare resale prices for tickets to St. Louis (not even sold out) and Des Moines (resellers getting twice or triple face value), it would seem that Des Moines is off to a good start. And that is without us playing there! Imagine what it would be like it we were playing there.

there would be huge demand even if Iowa wasn't an option. Or Kansas. Des Moines eats this sort of thing up. Des Moines sells out minor events. So you knew that s major sporting event would be crazy.
