Just checked on 247. Third in league. Mass had 8 more recruits to be in second. Don't believe their recruits are as good, just more. Western Mich. has been a recruiting beast last 2-3 years. They were first. Obviously, the commits who left for ISU hurt. On the plus side, I believe the returning Toledo roster is as good as three or four of the Big 12 returning rosters. They will be fine because Toledo's plan is ISU's plan.
LOL.. that would be us.

Thanks for sharing! And I've heard he's maybe "dialed it back" a bit from his early years (if that's possible) :)

Yeah, the stories i heard were his office light being on sometimes at 3 in the morning and such...but certainly many stories about attention to detail....and how that was expected from players, coaches, etc. A lot of that is part of all college coaches, but Snyder invented it and perfected it! I had a friend that got to be around Snyder's football program and shared a film example that blew my mind in terms of the level of detail they were scouting....they had identified a small tendency for an opposing player to slightly turn in one of his feet when that team did an onside kick!

I'm encouraged to hear Campbell and his staff value high character and work ethic (and are modeling it as coaches) and finding THE RIGHT people for the program..which isn't always the most stars (but love seeing, on paper, a good recruiting class!)

Oh yeah, his demeanor on the sideline is probably a little more subdued but the work ethic is still there. I had the privelage to go with the traveling party to the Liberty Bowl this season. He was up in his room studying Arkansas game film all night on New Years Eve. :)

Sorry, not trying to derail this thread, Campbell is off to a great start and can't wait to see the results on the field.

With all the excitement happening over the last couple of weeks, it was easy to forget about some really quality guys we got earlier in the process. Fun to watch some of their highlight tapes again. Top to bottom a lot of really good players with really good potential.

Signing Day celebration was a ton of fun and we'll organized, hats off to all parties involved. Thought it was great to hear in length from all the position coaches, something we rarely have had in the past, fun insights into their lives and personalities. Coach Campbell thanking all the wives went a long way with the gf ha.

Ton of people showed up and it's evident how excited this fanbase is already for football and the new culture CMC has brought. Environment in the SEZ was electric all night. Great to see the Gridiron Club and Jamie get behind an event like this and what a great way to keep fans interested in February. Hope to see a lot more of these events down the road.

Also, I joined the Gridiron Club tonight, what is to be expected or what in general should I be expecting? So pumped for the future here and I feel like we have the right guy to build on what Coach Mac and CPR built.

Not been to the Gridiron Club event in the past, but it felt like a dialed up version of the CF Recruitment Day party . . . with less food and beer.

Just the coaches talking about players . . . with videos playing. Loved it when the crowd would react to a play while the coach was talking about a player.

Ok guys it really is time to drink the kool aid.... We're watching ISU history right now.....

2015 - 71
2014 - 52
2013 - 65
2012 - 76
2011 - 69
2010 - 73
2009 - 80
2008 - 57
2007 - 69
2006 - 59

This class will more then likely be the best recruiting class in ISU history.....Thats something to build on!!!! Say what you want about developing players - but, talent is talent.... Great Job to these coaches - and i was worried they couldn't recruit - boy was i sadly mistaken!!!!

First of all I love this class and am excited about the future...but...this is nowhere near the best ISU class in the schools history. Earl Bruce had the #2 class his final season in Ames...that's why all the younger fans hear "think how good we could be if Earl Bruce would have stayed".

Tyler Catalina maybe?

He will never sign more than he already has unless he signs the same at another school. He's a waiting game with continuing contact. Nothing we can do about that.

I'm curious how many people go to this years spring game.

Typically those saying that are talking "history" as in since the internet sites have started tracking them in the early 2000s. It's not trying to belittle anything this program did back when you were middle aged :jimlad:

I'm watching the signing day special on youtube right now....I remember thinking...meh...this Campbell guy doesn't really impress me (when he was hired). I'll eat crow all day long on that. Obviously we don't know where this is going but I'm not sure we could have found a better fit for ISU.

So, er, who was ranking recruits back in those days? Anyone got a link to this?

Can anyone tell me why Neulion sucks so bad? I've been trying to watch stuff with the player for the last two days and it is horrible. No bandwidth available.

My take on the whole NSD is i absolutely love what the staff is doing and how they really attacked recruiting in such a short amount of time and really got the fans and players involved and seem to be recruiting nationally with heavy focus on midwest where they have ties; However in looking at who we are recruiting for offense im discouraged and for defense im excited. First, I'm not impressed or sold that Toledo's offense will work or produce more points than what we have been doing. Our defense was not the best last year and held then to 20 points in regulation after costly turnovers also by us. The other Power 5 team they played Arkansas also held them to 16 points. They seem to be trying to do the Jarvis west small slot guy in space that we tried and failed at already. We are not going to consistently have guys that can run away from the OU, Texas, TCU, Baylor type guys in space that has already been proven; Tavon Austin is like the only person i have seen be able to do that from a northen Big 12 School; However on the flip side Toledo's defense held us and Arkansas in check. Im excited that we will have an attacking defense that dictates to offenses instead of sitting back and giving teams everything SMH. My hope is offensively they will make changes and adjust to the league and the caliber of athlete in this league instead of taking the "it worked here at Toledo we are going to follow the process" because Im not impressed with the Toledo offense and how it projects to the big 12...its easy when in ur conference u have the best athletes to run that system, but im not sold on it PRAY im wrong or that they are not stubborn and able to say hey this not working lets adjust and do this.

I see ISU signed Jerrion Nelson from Columbia Battle High School. I don't know Jerrion but I used to work out at the same gym as his coach Justin Conyers. The school is only 3 years old and won the state championship in their second year.

One thing I'm sure of - nobody will have to teach Jerrion how to lift weights. Justin was serious in the gym.
