Fleck is kind of a weirdo personality wise, may not be what JP is looking for.

Cyclone Fanatic is a pretty risk-averse bunch. When you haven't sniffed the top of the conference ever, I'd take a higher variance coach. Sometimes, there's a fine line between high-variance and unqualified, but I am a little confused by the hate for Fleck.

Now that we seem to have identified a pool of finalists, it is the next step where we've gone wrong in the past.

This time just hire the guy you don't have a good feeling about.

Fritz is out of the running then?

Campbell would make sense from a religious point of view. I believe he got into a bit of trouble at Toledo for talking religion too much with his players or something? Not saying he wouldn't be a good choice because I think he could be really good, I'm just saying he definitely fits the JP mold, that's for sure.
This is getting so ******* old. Just stop with this nonsense.

I think the more this plays out and the more researching I do on some of the candidates, Campbell is becoming my pick.

Fleck has youth and exuberance. JP won't go that route.

You're right...

Still gotta keep Missouri, who is reportedly scheduled to interview Campbell, in the back of your mind.

ISU's best bet, if they want him, is to offer quickly and apply the pressure to accept before he sees other options.

Millions of dollars and lost years.

But there's no guarantee that any of these guys are going to be any good. We all want Iowa State to take that "next step." I think it's worth a gamble. Go with the guy who gives you the highest upside.

Having said that, I think that Campbell would be a nice hire. Young dude. Energy. We'll see.
