Feel the beat drop jazz and hip-hop
Drippin' in your dome makes you zone and bop
Funk and fusion a fly illusion
Keeps ya coastin' on the rhythm ya cruisin'
Up down round and round, rhymes profound
But nevertheless you've got to get down

Song and Artist?

Love that line, Flip Fantasia, but old lady blanking on artist again

Don't eat Skippy, Jif or Peter Pan
Peanut butter, 'cause I'm not butter
In fact I snap back like a rubber
Band, I be Sam Sam I am
And I don't eat green eggs and ham
Style will hit ya, wham!, then goddamn
You be like oh **** that's the jam

The sun roof was open , the music was high
And this girl's hand was steadily moving up my thigh
She had opened up three buttons on her shirt so far
I guess that's why I didn't notice that police car
We're doing ninety in my Mom's new Porsche
And to make this long story short - short
When the cop pulled me over I was scared as hell
I said, "I don't have a license but I drive very well, officer"

Should be an easy one

Someone posted this a couple of years ago or so, and I love it. It breaks down rappers by the number of unique words they used. 50 Cent, for example, is a bit dense: http://poly-graph.co/vocabulary.html

I also love these so very much: http://jamphat.com/rap/

If I had to rank mainstream rappers...

Best storyteller - Biggie
Best overall rapper - Jay-Z
Best lyrics - Eminem

Rep gun out of ammo and can't do too much here since I have a ton of work today. I'll be back tonight to answer any that have not been guessed. I'll also post some great lesser known songs/artists from back in the day.

Just my two cents (and probably overpriced): rap/hip hop pretty much died for me after the early 2000's. Most of today's "rappers" (they're more like singing now, rather than rapping) couldn't hold a candle to the rap/hip hop pioneers of the 80's, 90's, and early 2000's.

Name the artist AND the contributing group!

Seriously? What's so hard about Tribe Called Quest and Q-Tip?

Yep. Hip-hop turned into R&B with a few verses sprinkled in. There are a few exceptions, but I will always revert to the golden age of hip-hop.

I don't think it was that well known of a song.

The contributing group was Leaders of the New School, which would be hard to remember for anyone not named me or carvers4math.

Not exactly sure.
Really? That ones more recent and was a really popular song for a while. I'll let someone else take it though. Because of the implications.

I've gotten old and don't listen to much modern music. Old, stubborn and stuck in my days. I may not be 1985 like fountains of Wayne, I'm more 1988-1992 area.

For any emcee in any fifty two states
I get psycho, killer, Norman Bates
My producer slam my flow is like bam
Jump on stage ah then I dip down

I fully understand. My mp3 collection is mostly 90s aternative and hip-hop.
