I hate losing to Iowa teams. Now I need to worry about being able to beat Iowa. At least that will be in Hilton.

If we are going to be more than a .500 team in the Big 12 Starks is going to need to get Kidd's minutes.

If it wasn't for Kidd's 3's I would say Starks and Durr in front of Kidd. I'm still not entirely enthusiastic with Jadda running point so far. It's a mixed bag early.

Is Molly no longer working with Rich on the radio broadcast?

They have plain outworked us. Why we can't find five gals to match their intensity is maddening. They have several players that look like shotputters, one that looks like Chris Farley. Not sure we should be trailing here. I'd run our centers next week until they puke. None of the three have shown up.

May not need to make them puke, but something is needed to ensure production from the post. Yes, they are relatively inexperienced, but with their talent and help from the guards, they must be able to perform better.

Whether it's discipline by the players in running the offense as designed, or the design itself by the coaches, there's a lot of work to be done.

If someone knows the WBB writer for cyclones.com, can you kindly let them know that all the "would"'s should be deleted from the article :) Unfortunately, all the results "did" happen and seems simpler to say so.

I agree. Reading that tense in articles makes me cringe. It's not just on Cyclones.com, but seems to be used almost exclusively in sports articles.

We had no production from our post players which was unacceptable. They all three looked terrible.

Kidd needs to go back to coming off the bench, she is trying to do way too much. Tee Tee is a better defender and can finish at the hoop.

Drake played like this was their biggest game of the year, and we let them do whatever they wanted.

Jenny is a great coach. She will be Iowas coach when Bluter retires. Unless Bill retires first and we could get her.

We should not be playing Drake or UNI at all. Just like men's basketball. They can come to Ames or they can pound sand. These games are no-win situations for us.

Wasn't able to watch or listen to the game but have read reports and looked at the stats. I assume Drake was happy to have us shooting so many 3's, especially when we are cold. They'd give us those shots all night long.

I suspect the bottom line is youth. Kidd is the only senior that plays significant minutes, and she does have a tendency to try to do too much on her won. After that, you have Seanna as a junior; good news is she's back again next year. Then the main minutes are going to freshman and sophomores - and getting them up to B12 speed will take games like this - tough team and on the road. It will take time; for example, it was a tough night, but Carleton still managed a double-double when the play of the team is a train wreck.

We have the makings of a very good team, but it will take time. As I said, I did not see the game, but my guess is the comments about lack of drive was actually hesitation - tough team on the road in a noisy gym. They'll get past that, but it will take time.

In the end, was it poor performance, and excessive expectations for a young team this early in the season. To me, I have seen them play live, and I liked what I saw. They just need to elevate things to the level of B12 or equivalent teams. And that will take time.

Iowa State is now 28-27 all-time vs. Drake

Wow

Did not know that but not surprised. ISU had a terrible WBB program before Bill came. We have taken some pretty good teams into Drake and lost.

Went to the game, it was a fun game to watch. Our lack of post play lead to us shooting 3s and they just didn't fall today. I wish we would have won but the freshmen got lots of time and can learn from this. The thing that disappointed me the most was lack of defense on the cuts to the basket and then a lob pass coming into them. Drake looked better than I thought they would and shot really well. Hopefully our post play will continue to improve as the season progresses.

It was a good atmosphere and I am glad ISU is still playing Drake/UNI in WBB on the road. Good early season test.

I thought ISU looked slo, we just seemed to lack energy and the spark needed to win. I have to give Drake credit. They hustled and seemed to want the win more. Drake was also well coached, they shreaded ISU's zone with great passing and when ISU went to man defense, Drake got great shots as well.

Personally, I struggled with Bill's coaching today. I thought he let Drake go on runs and didn't call TO's to stop the momentum, correct problems, chew butt or make substitutions. The only thing I can think of, Bill wanted them to fight through the adversity on their own. Develop floor leadership.

Something to consider on this, two of the rule changes. First teams have one less time out per game so they need to be a little more conservative in using them. Second the ability to advance the ball into the front court in the last two minutes of a game on a time out is huge if it is a close game like this one.
