Bull ****. Even if the comment isn't as critical as some may think it is out of context, it speaks to the overall attitude and culture of the program, and the reason why QB after QB regresses under CPR. It was a great play that was worth complimenting in public, and instead he gives his young QB no credit because he wants to discourage those types of plays. Well guess what, those are the types of throws and plays that great football teams make.
Totally agree.
I've been complaining for years about how we don't throw deep and stretch the field vertically. I've wondered why we are so afraid to throw the ball up and let our big group of WR's show their talent and go up and get them. No wonder opposing defenses can play everyone up on the line against us. We are SO easy to defend, and everyone we play knows it.
It isn't the QB's fault at all, just as I kinda figured, but I'm glad I heard it from the horses mouth today. We all owe Sam Richardson a HUGE apology IMO. We all saw the true Sam IMO in his first game at Kansas. He was a gunslinger in that game coming off the bench and whipping the ball all over the place.
Since then he has regressed big time under Rhoads, and now we all know why. And he will do it to Lanning too, and this TCU game was a prime example of it already occurring. IMO he should be fired immediately, but I know that won't happen. But I don't know if we can afford Rhoads' coaching methods to be screwing up more of our players as the rest of the weeks go by? I don't think we can.
If you aren't supposed to make that throw as a QB, then you need to takeaway about half of Brett Favre's career TD passes, and probably close to half of Randy Moss' career TD catches as well. Watch Baylor or TCU and they are constantly throwing it up deep and letting their guys make plays on the ball.
If Rhoads isn't gone after this season, I see no reason for Lazard, or any other WR to stick around here any longer. Or any QB for that matter. Rhoads is ruining them. Plain and simple. He has ruined every QB that he's coached here. It all makes so much sense now.
