What's the deal with this game starting at 5:00 and the LAD-NYM game starting at 7:30? They're both on TBS. Figured they'd leave at least a three-hour window for the first game.

Surprised with Soler in the 2 spot and not the 6 spot. Mostly because that's where Joe always has his most consistent hitter.

My guess is he's trying to get a little more production from our middle guys by putting Schwarber in the 6 spot.

Cardinals are going with an unsurprising lineup.

Carpenter (3B)
Piscotty (1B)
Holliday (LF)
Heyward (RF)
Peralta (SS)
Pham (CF)
Molina (C)
Wong (2B)
Wacha (P)

Let's see what happens! I am not confident but am up for a surprise this evening.

It's October..........would you be surprised by anything that the Cards do? I have turned on games with similar attitude as watching an ISU football game. However time and time again i get shocked on what they do.

Jake has been dominate, 31 scoreless innings in a row - its going to end sometime, why not tonight and you never know the flood gates might just open.

My thoughts on the lineup - Bryant OR Rizzo must have a good game tonight at the plate. Another night of not doing anything productive, and we basically waste Schwarbers bat in the 6 spot and our table setters at 1 and 2 won't be able to amount to much.

Cubs lineup vs. Wacha:

5 starters hitting .300 or higher. Schwarber has never had a plate appearance vs. Wacha. Russel is 0-5. Miggy Mont is 2-15. Bottom of our order is going to be crap.

Castro career is 10-22 with 2 homers and 7 RBI's.

Good point. Tons of confidence from Cubs fans both here and elsewhere. I frankly can't blame them but I hope there is a certain overconfidence from the Cubs players tonight. If the Cards manage to get a run or two early that might result in some panic from Chicago. Of course the opposite is equally true if it's an early lead for the Cubs with a great pitcher on the mound. We'll have to wait and see.

Cardinals doing Cardinal things:

Derrick Goold @dgoold
Tradition is for teams to make Gm 4 starter available to media day before. #Cardinals are sending in ... Kolten Wong. #stlcards #NLDS

Intriguing development. Lynn will be on the mound if the Cardinals win tonight, but if not? Lackey will be on short but potentially manageable rest, or the real wild card... Wainwright?

Waino is not starting...........unless its game 7 of the WS and that is about a 1% chance.

Bottom of the order is going to be crap based on the 20 at bat sample size?

Wouldn't shock me
Me either. Went to the Friday night game. After the game, a bunch of us Cardinal fans were debating it. Point was, he would have all off-season to re-recuperate, he's as competitive as it gets and he's 34 years old. It's not like you're protecting some young guy.

A few things I would like to say about this series:

1. My ban was bull sh it. My ban comment said something like this, "We know this series means a lot to you, but you need to post in the Cardinals board only as we told you." Between the time I spend at work, my martial arts/kickboxing training, and my free pleasure time, I don't have enough time to read EVERY comment, so when you want to address me, send me a message to my page. And I don't know if this counts as a 'Cardinals thread/board', but I really don't care.
2. I don't come on here for my benefit nor do I have to, I have a family to put food on the table for. I come here to educate fans about sports and other life lessons. If you want to continue to ban me, then that's your loss I guess. I have enough opportunities outside of here to help others in the community. I don't think I have been receiving enough credit lately. Again, if you ban me again, it's your loss, not mine.
3. Game 1 was a St. Louis Cardinal domination. Jaime choked in game 2. That error set the tone for the entire game. The young Cub roster became relaxed for the first time and the game was pretty much over from there. Now Airietta is due for a not so great game. Game 3 coming up. Cardinals win in 4.

Everyone watching this game knew Holliday was swinging at that full count pitch even if Arrieta threw it into the backstop
