No one w/any pedigree is going to coach here so you have to hope that some unknown catches lightning in a bottle…but if he does, he'll immediately bolt to any school not named Iowa State.

ISU is probably the worst Power-5 job in the country.

We should've kept baseball and got rid of football.

I'm going to assume this was a joke.

Assistant coaches should excel in recruiting and player development, I want a head coach with a proven track record for success and wins....because ultimately successful coaches make the right decisions at the right time.

Lance Leipold is my recommendation. Obtained 100 victories faster than any coach in NCAA history in 106 games at Wisconsin-Whitewater. NCAA Division III National Football Championship in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014. Runners-up in 2008. Currently in his first season with the Buffalo Bulls (MAC conference) with a 2-1 record, with the only loss to Penn State by 13 points. The guy is a proven winner and master tactician with X’s and O’s.

Does it matter. Nobody has ever won here. Why would anyone even want the football coaching job. Seriously. 8f they are a good coach there is probably a better job for them somewhere else.

Let's be honest, anybody willing to take the job now probably isn't on anybody's radar. And Leath will likely have some pretty significant influence on who the hire will be as well.

Heck, we have absolutely nothing to lose at all. I think that I could coach this team and do better than we did last season and so far this season. Use our basketball formula and bring in Sage. It is impossible for him to do worse and he might just surprise us. Probably won't break the bank either.

The dude that used to coach at Colorado School of the Mines. Can't remember where he is now, but he is an innovative offensive mind and we need that. I'm fine with a gimmicky offense at ISU. We need something different

Who would you want to be the next coach?

And Mangino is not an option for this scenario.

IF Rhoads is out, I'd like to see them try and lure Matt Wells away from Utah St.

Whoever our next coach is, please get someone with head coaching experience. I'm tired of watching coaches learn on the job. The last three coaches here, Mac, Chiz, and now Rhoads have made very big mistakes simply because they lacked experience on running a program. We need someone that knows wtf they are doing when they step on campus.

Bob Stitt would be my vote if we're looking for offensive innovation.

Craig Bohl if we're wanting to teach our big boys how to not be *******.
