I don't get this logic. I bet someone this week plays in a conference championship game, loses, and missed the playoffs.

It's only bad if you are already at the #5 or #6 spot.

The Big 12 champion should usually be in the top 4.

It can be good or bad depending on the year.

Certainly not worth adding two ****** schools for no reason.

Cincy is probably the #1 choice (odd as that sounds) but I'd prefer UCF, USF, and Tulane over Memphis in that order.

UConn just seems too out there and their fan base seemed among the most classless we've encountered.

I hate conference realignment.
Between that and paying players I'm greatly annoyed with the direction college football has been going.

Now I might be completely off base here but UConn probably has the biggest fan base out of anyone left (not named Notre Dame or BYU) and they are in the Northeast which is good to go with Army, Navy, and WVU. The service academies have a national fanbase. ESPN can always sell patriotism.

If the CCG is such a big concern, don't you think Bowsbly would be lobbying for a change to the rules to allow 10-team conference to also have one before making the knee-jerk reaction of adding two crappy schools?

Fact: The Big 12 is not concerned about their lack of a conference championship game. Thus far, they have no reason to be.

You're wrong. Nobody has given two ***** about the service academies in sports since the 40s.

This year is an odd year with the playoff for the Big 12. My hope is that Everyone losses, allowing both Baylor and TCU wins and the other conferences then allow us to have a conference championship. I repeat, this is an odd year. Every Pac and SEC team has a loss and only one from each has one loss. If Arizona makes one FG, they are both bumped down one. If Miss St beats Bama, we are bumped down another. Things have lined up perfectly for the Big 12. The only way it could have been better is for Baylor to not lose. I would agree that more years than not, we will be hurt by not having a conference championship. TCU beating us does nothing for them and when the committee has to try and separate BU and TCU, they will strengthen their opinion on OSU just because it's easier. Then you have Arizona who, if they win, presents a pretty decent case as well plus it's easier.

So once again the Big 12 would look like huge hypocrites after their huge media push this year about playing everyone in football and home and aways in basketball. So I really don't see this happening plus I think they actually like it this way and so do I. We are arguably the best football conference top to bottom and arguably the best basketball conference. I think there is a bigger chance that they petition the other BCS conferences to allow two five team divisions along with a championship game.

The only reason I would see them wanting to add these schools is that they need more patsies on the schedule because going undefeated in the current Big 12 is so hard. If so I think that is flawed thinking because look at the B1G. They are struggling to get a team in the playoff because their conference is so water downed now and the two best teams aren't even playing in the championship game. I think the Big 12 should wait it out for the eight team playoff. It's going to happen sooner rather then later.

Can't go west, in my opinion. WVU to BYU has to be a distance of almost 2,000 miles.

the old Conference USA had more teams spread out then this conference. I don't think the distance is a factor at all. Time zone difference would be more of a factor. If BYU says no, then call up UCONN and UCF in that order.

How big is that army/navy/air force contract with ESPN?

I am trying to think of what would bring in the most money since that is what everyone cares about. The service academies are national fanbases.

That's not the Big 12's revenue model. The value of the Big 12's TV contract is derived from the quality of the games it airs...advertisers pay because they know Baylor vs. TCU will draw a lot of eyeballs by being an entertaining football game that people will want to watch regardless of their fan affiliation. Those people aren't going to give a rat's *** about seeing Navy play Iowa State or Army at Kansas.

You think people care about Memphis in any way though? Cincy is fine I suppose. Memphis is the one I am having trouble with. Plus I like the idea of putting the service academies in one conference. It won't happen but neither will Memphis being added to the Big 12.

Lets see...

Two schools that will make us appear less sucky at football

Two schools that will improve basketball in the Big 12 conference, which is already considered a top 2 conference

BRING EM ON

No one gives a rats *** about Memphis or Cincy (or ISU or KU) either!

Either way, we're picking at scraps. Period. We can all agree we ****ed up the first time around. I am perfectly content with what we are now.

Memphis can become a good football program in the Big 12. They're in a weak conference now that hurts their recruiting.

If Memphis can build a kickass football program in the way that schools like TCU and Baylor have, then yes, people will tune in to watch their games. And I think Memphis is more likely to do that than any of the service academies.
