Cincinnati and Memphis to the Big 12?

If we ever want to elevate our program, we need divisions. This will hurt the pocketbook a bit but help the win total. Perhaps winning can lessen the hurt of a smaller conference payout?

I would love to take a run at Pitt and Louisville. Perhaps we can pry them out of the ACC. Doubtful but worth a conversation.

If not them, I guess these are the next best options - bigger markets, help surround WVU so they aren't on an island, and they are teams we can beat.

Like who? The big12 already messed up by not getting Louisville. There are no good teams left that can be poached out of their current conferences. In the end there might only be 4 conferences left and the big12 needs to add.

If we're talking only Group of 5 conferences (AAC, MWC, MAC etc) I think we should add the 3 service academies + BYU. But BYU ain't coming here for sure. So I am ok with Cincy I suppose, just not Memphis. Ideally I would take UConn and the 3 service academies

Hell, merging with the ACC makes more sense than adding cinci and memphis.

This is an incredibly bad idea.

If this happens, ill be shocked. Going into the final weekend of football, the Big 12 has three teams that dtill have a shot at making the playoffs. The Big 12 is not worried at all.

I will say, even if it's mediocre add for the conference, a new north division where we play Cincy, KU, Memphis, K-State, and WVU every year, but miss 2-3 of the south teams would be a godsend for getting ISU FB back on track.

Now you are thinking like a fan.

Penalized? There is a real possibility we get two teams in if FSU or Oregon lose (assuming baylor wins which isn't a given).

Yep, a lot of misinformation now being spewed by those really frightened of this scenario. Big XII certainly took a gamble and they wanted it desperately to fail but they aren't adding teams if 1 and certainly not 2 make it this year.

Man, we really screwed the pooch on conference expansion. Unfortunately we were force to be reactionary. In an ideal world, we would have added WVU and Louisville. We were caught in a moment of panic and added TCU instead.

They meet my one criteria: there is a remote chance we can beat them in football.

This makes me sick - our conference has the best set up for football and basketball. We play everyone in FB and everyone twice in BB. No bull **** because you get to skip certain teams (al a Iowa's schedule) a TRUE champion. We're gonna give this up all for a stupid Conf Championship Game??? .....funny, I don't remember the pundits ever complaining about not having a CCG when the B10 didn't have one. In fact, they were admired because they didn't knock each other out for the national championship game.
