Hoops: Hearing ISU/Arkansas in Big 12/SEC Challenge

For those not following the big thread on this, I'm hearing Iowa State will host Arkansas in the Big 12/SEC Challenge.

Talk about a lot of hype for quite awhile for an average opponent. Wish it could have at least been Tennessee or an old Big 12 foe.

I really just wish the SEC didn't suck at basketball outside of Florida and Kentucky. And playing at Hilton next year pretty much ruins my dream of Kentucky home game in 15-16.

Oh yes those are very good. I was just trying to recollect seeing these matchups over the years.

Are they paired together?

They were last year. I think they usually do a decent job of pairing teams with what they have to work with. It's never going to look great based on the talent differential between the two conferences. ISU vs Auburn was probably last year's biggest mismatch, but we also turned out to be a lot better than anybody expected at this time last year.

At least playing Arkansas will allow Nick Babb to play against ISU and realize that we're the place to be in a couple years when he wants to transfer.

They were a bubble team last year until the very end. So I think they'll be a little better than most are giving them credit for, but still disapointing.

Arkansas is a Historical Power - which has WON the National Championship (1994), played in the NCAA Championship Game the following year (1995) and has been to the Final Four a few additional times too. The Razorbacks also play in a larger arena and avg. more fans per game than Iowa State. This is a GREAT opponent for Iowa State to HOST in the SEC-Big Xii Challenge. Woooo PIGGGGG Cyclones! Let's Go State!
