Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

Matt Abdelmassih, @mabde33 and CFH got ISU close this time. Matt was the lead on RV. If you have twitter, it might be a nice gesture to tweet him a note of thanks/encouragement. He's been on this one for like 3 1/2 years.

One can only hope he will be drafted by the Sacramento Kings eventually so no one will have to hear about him ever again.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

You don't have to be a **** to him or UNLV, but a nice respectful tweet telling him he made a mistake probably would make everyone feel better.

Maybe just a "best of luck to you" would be better.

Yep, I was just going to say this. Matt sounds absolutely crushed. Send him an appreciation message for how hard he works for ISU

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

I think the thing people are missing here is how many recruits we either passed on or cooled on by leaving this scholarship open. Someone before mentioned Nick Babb and J.P. Marcura. I'm not sure what happened with Cunningham, but that's another one. People have said "I'd rather have Georges Niang for 4 years than Nerlens Noel for 1." That's great and I completely agree. But while we held a scholarship open for "our Nerlens", we may have had to pass on a dozen "Georges'".

I totally agree with this. Based on Izzo's public comments about the middlemen in the Chicago area, I wouldn't be surprised if that had something to do with why we are no longer involved with Cunningham.

Well, best of luck to Vaughn playing on the Mountain West Network every game instead of national TV and getting more exposure. Worst options out of his final schools. UK, UNC, Kansas, and ISU would all be much better picks.
Don't forget the big national rivalry games with Colorado State and New Mexico!

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

If you read Abdelmassih's tweets you can almost assume that's what he's talking about. Pathetic a team recruits a kid for 4 years and he decides to go to a school who was recruiting him for 5 months. Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmm

This is what irks me the most. UNLV is offering him something more than just a basketball scholarship in order to sweep in at virtually the last minute and persuade him to go there and ruin all the relationships he had built with Fred and Matt for 4 years. Kinda sad really.

And what will it matter if he puts up 20 a game at UNLV against absolutely horrible competition with nobody in the country even watching or caring at all? Nothing.

Just the fact that he doesn't want to challenge himself against the best in the country tells me enough about him that I'm not sure we are going to miss him that much. Every great basketball player I've ever known has wanted to compete against the best. But not RV. He's more attracted to night clubs, partying, women, etc that Vegas has to offer versus playing in the Big 12 or the ACC.

I kinda feel bad for the kid to be honest. It really seems like he's being taken advantage of, if everything we've heard about his handler is as true as it appears to be.

But it is the business of college recruiting. We'll be fine next year but this is the part we can be ticked about.

Yep, was thinking the same thing. Nobody cares what you do on a Wednesday night game at Laramie Wyoming. Big fish in the little pond, get paid in a year, and support your family. Can't blame him.
Right until he blows out his knee, can't play in D-League and is an 24 year old unemployed ball player with 0 college credits. Meanwhile, Melvin Ejim will most likely be playing ball somewhere or have a damn job. I do actually blame RV, we'll see how good he really is.

Time to change the Rashad avatars. I'm sick of looking at him and hearing about him.

Everyone should also unfollow him.

You probably won't have to hear much about his next year either. When was the last time you saw UNLV on ESPN?
