I just posted the ref's email and phone number and it was taken down in about 20 seconds....
Does this really surprise you???
Yeah, he's moving the other direction, but there is an ISU lineman pushing on his shoulder pads in that direction. Just because he's moving the other direction doesn't mean the ball is in his hands.
Yeah, the ball just magically appeared in JG's hands, 10 yards downfield.
Close your eyes. Imagine what was happening.
His jersey not even long enough to cover his own midsection. Covered in his sweat. Covered in his blood. Gasping with the effort from playing a complete Big 12 football game, winded from tackling huge truck-sized running backs with the maneuverability of a Porsche two-seater, exhausted from covering NFL-caliber tight ends and wide receivers all night long.
Close your eyes and imagine.
He's carrying a football. Running up the field, nobody else there but himself, the freshly cut grass, the warm Indian summer air, the smell of smoke from thousands of tiny grills. Carrying the football away from the pile behind him of overgrown, overmuscled twenty-something kids who have no idea the ball is no longer in their midst. There is nothing standing between him and the siren-like call of the endzone and victory for his team.
Can you see him? Can you?
Now imagine he plays for Texas. Thank you.
Since when is the son of a ***** Mr. Davis? He's a cheating M u tha F u ...., not Mr. Davis.Below is a statement Big 12 Supervisor of Football Officials Walt Anderson in regards to the Texas vs. Iowa State football game from Thursday night.
“In accordance with Big 12 Conference protocol I have reviewed several plays from last night’s Texas at Iowa State football game. Those plays include the personal foul penalty called in the endzone against Texas wide receiver Mike Davis, and the goal line play late in the game.
The ruling made on the goal line play was that the runner was down by rule with the ball. Because of that ruling, instant replay is allowed to review the play, which it did. Had the ruling on the field been forward progress, the play would not be reviewable because the goal line was not involved. The Replay Official looked at all five views available for this play: Line Feed, Goal Line cart, Press Box angle, Sky Cam, and Opposite End Zone camera. He correctly determined there was no indisputable video evidence to confirm that either the ruling on the field was correct, or that the ball was loose prior to the runner being down. By rule when there is not indisputable video evidence to confirm or change the call on the field, the ruling stands.
On this play, the covering official ruled the runner was down and still had control of the ball. There is no question the runner ends up on the ground, and there is no question that eventually an Iowa State player ends up with the ball. However, after reviewing the video evidence it is impossible to tell with certainty when the runner loses control of the ball and at that point was he down or not.
The conference would acknowledge in this unique situation if a mistake were made, but we do not have the video evidence to prove that one occurred.
The play involving Mr. Davis is being addressed in accord with the Conference’s Sportsmanship and Ethical Conduct Policy."
All of the above is from Ames Tribune
Around the Horn on ESPN lead with the game.
All four journalists agreed ISU got hosed. Bomani Jones said no one in the league is surprised and gave other examples of UT related bull****. The panel included Tim Cowlishaw...a UT grad. The only people on planet Earth siding with the refs are chickenhead fans.
How long do you think his arms are? We know George gets teh ball at some point. He's standing up.
It's physically impossible that the Texas player could still have the ball before George gets it without George again going to the ground to get it.
Even if he did somehow have 5 foot long arms, his arms are bent the whole time. I design products in 3D every day, so I forget other people can't understand objects in space so forgive me, but there is just absolutely no way that guy is down with the ball knowing it ends up in George's hands.
Someone said he's a dentist. Someone else said he's a proctologist.
Protologists get a bum rap.
I understand that you are making a logical argument about where the ball has to be. But the official isn't permitted to do that. To overturn the call, the replay official has to see a picture of the ball, in George's hand, with the Texas player not down. He is not permitted to predict where the ball might be based on the posture of the players or their physical stature of the players.
Yeah and I think they need to get rid of the "indisputable evidence" ****. Make the right call.
Lord, I hope that never happens, unless there is a committee of like 9 people doing the reviews. Can you imagine one official having the power to proclaim, "Even though I didn't see it, IMO, it had to happen this way." How can anybody possibly challenge anything like that?
Isn't that what the call on the field was.
It might have been, which is why the play was reviewed.
