And Wil Myers hasn't even played a single game in the Majors and struck out 140 times this year in the minors. But yes, carry on...

i have a right to whine and complain and carry on. i was born just after the glory years. ive been to hundreds of games. sometimes its just easy to expect failure out of kc management. atleast the chiefs have had a couple decent teams

I, too, was born just after the glory years. But unlike in the late 90's and early to mid 00's, the team is actually trying to accomplish something now. And no, this trade can't be compared to the "Melky for Sanchez" deal last year. That comparison isn't even close.

just the most recent i guess. i start thinking about when we had damon, ibanez, dye, and beltran. The sweeney, beltran, damon, and dye years were probably my favorites since ive been around. Some how we can never keep our young talent and those guys ended up being stars for other organizations

edit: except for sweeney.

I agree with you here. It just sucks the Royals didn't have the team built up enough or the payroll to keep these guys. In many cases they traded them away for peanuts (I believe we got John Buck and Mark Teahan by trading away Beltran). At least now, they are trading unproven prospects for 2 proven MLB quality pitchers. 1 being a #1 starter and the other topping out at a #4 pitcher or being dominant in the pen.

I think that is all the more reason to like this trade. We are doing better at keeping talent but the truth is we have a window... and that window is open right now. We have all those young position players under control for the next 2-4 years, and now we have a legit rotation that will give them a chance to compete. You had to sit threw us trading away all those great players, doesn't it feel good to be the buyer for once getting the established star?

yes those teams were fun to watch hit, but we were running Darrel May, Brian Anderson, Luke Hudson and Jimmy Gobble out there every 5th day. And we signed Sweeney bc he spoke English and Beltran didn't and was easier to market (true story) and we got fleeced on the Beltran deal bc 1) we said we only wanted a C and a 3B and 2) everyone knew we had to trade him.

Jermaine Dye for Neifi Perez is still the worst trade in the history of mankind.

The Leo Nunez for Mike "I can't hit a breaking pitch" Jacobs has to be in the top 5 of Royals blunders.

oh this could be fun. How bout JP Howell for Joey "Hey I can jump over a car, but can't hit a slider" Gathright
or Jeremy Affeldt and Jorge De La Rosa for Ryan "I LOVE Hitting at 5280 feet, HATE hitting anywhere else" Sheeley

and in all fairness, I bet the Royals new Leo Nunez was about three years older than he actually was

True, but he was a solid set up man in the bullpen and we already had a first baseman that couldn't hit major league hitting in the minors (Micah 'Kila' Ka'aihue).

How about David Cone for Ed Hearn...

Talking about all of these trades made me sad...

It's nice to see improvement from the team, though we could use an upgrade at 2B and RF. But hey, at least we aren't trotting Ken Harvey out there 162 games a year anymore.

And Mike Wood!

One of my favorite Royals moves of all time was losing Jeff Conine in the expansion draft to the Marlins because they had to protect the all important David Howard.

I honestly don't know what I will do next year if Shields does as expected, Guthrie continues to perform, Santana reverts back to 2011 form, and Paulino or Duffy comes back strong. Revel in the 85 wins, I guess.
