The Walking Dead

Anyone who likes this series so far or the comics series and is interested in something with the same "end of the world" theme but a different take should read "Y: The Last Man"

Comics/graphic novel series where every large male animal on the Earth dies all at once, except for one guy and his pet monkey. So he wanders a world with half the population, but all women. It's a lot of social/political issues but some of the same apocalypse and search for a cure that zombie movies have. He has to travel disguised because it creates a huge panic with anyone who sees him, some just want to get it on, others want to kidnap him for money, others kidnap him for science.

I have had dreams about being the last man on a women populated earth. I wake up exhausted.

Omega Man sucked majorly, but I did enjoy I Am Legend.

AMCTV.com has "The Last Man on Earth" online to watch free.

It's from 1964 and a more true adaption of the book I Am Legend than the new Will Smith movie is. Vincent Price stars.

Ever wonder why people in zombie movies don't just head north? I'd go hide out in a lake cabin in Minnesota. Even if the zombies could still move around, surely the cold would slow them way down. And when it froze them solid you could just go cutting heads off with a chainsaw.
That wouldn't be as much fun as it would be if they weren't frozen.

I see AMC has ordered an additional 12 episodes so we will get at least one full season of the show.

It's definitely part of the appeal of those comics, and a likely reason it ran for many years when most titles don't last over a dozen issues. They always kept it very tasteful but the last man definitely has some payoff moments, although he is kind of a pansy about the whole thing.

I would be more worried about the man hating feminists trying to kill me. You never know when your number is up.

Check out World War Z... there's a whole section on those who decided to go north.

Reading is hard. Synopsis please.

Hah.

Basically... it was a popular idea. Until there werent enough supplies for everyone, and most that went had no idea how to survive a far north climate (or any outdoor, winter, climate long-term past a night or two camping). Millions die due to exposure and starvation.

That would make sense.

So basically the people who head to their lake cabins (like I would) end up having to deal with a bunch of idiots who don't know how to fish or chop wood. Makes sense - you'd have to worry more about the starving rednecks than the zombies.

There'd be enough of them who's biological clock was ticking loudly to protect you. There would also be a few sex addicts on your side.
