The number 44 is special in the world of pro sports, and my favorite pro uniform number: Hank Aaron, Chuck Foreman, Floyd Little, Reggie Jackson, Gale Sayers, John Riggins, et. al.

In the history of ISU football, and ISU sports in general, who wore number 44?

This thread is influenced by an earlier thread asking about everyone's fave ISU uniform number.

The best ever #44, in my opinion, was Jeff Grayer. It's pretty telling that nobody else has worn the #44 since his eligibility expired...

Ryan Harklau was the first fb player in recent memory to stand out while wearing that number. Oddly, he was a DT and wore it (which is part of what makes college fb great)

Football notables:
Tim Dobbins (04-05)
Justin Eilers (01)
Ryan Harklau (96-00)
Larry Crawford (78-80)
Barry Hill (71-74)
Jock Johnson (68-70)

Women's Basketball:
Only 5 players (in 37 years) have worn #44, and only 2 since 1991. Jocelyn Anderson (08-09) is probably the most notable of that group.

Gale Sayers wore #40. Not #44.

Barry Hill was a very good DB...played in the NFL with the Dolphins for several years.

Barry Hill still has the career interception record for the Big 8 conference, but the Big 8 wasn't a passing conference by any means back then.

Bonus points if you can name the player whose record he broke.
