Tork's pub. Ate many a liquid lunch and dinner at that place.

Also miss Tony's Little Italy. Food was pretty good. But atmosphere was great for taking a date (out to eat) back when I didn't have much money.

I forgot about Tony's Little Italy, ate there when I was a kid in the 60's, they had great food.

In the 70's there was a place downtown called The Veritable Quandry - it was in an old bank building, I believe there is a business in there now selling high-end kitchen appliances.

Does anyone remember the tiny bar at the North Grand Mall? I can't remember it's name.

O'Malleys for sure and I also use to like Humbres as a change up to O'Malleys. I must have something for Tex-Mex:)

I have no idea if these are closed...probably not, but I miss them anyway:

#1 - gyro guy. Yeah, you know who you are. Plus, you got me home soooo many times.

#2 - La Fuente. 96 oz t-shirt owners unite!

My apologies to Kyle, as I have ousted him..

The pizza place that sold smoothies in the mall next to the movie theaters. Best smoothies ever.

Restaurant I miss most would probably be Minsky's Pizza in the old campus town location (going back aways there). I was young, but it was a fun place to eat.

Also miss Ruttles (loved the 50's theme and chocolate shakes).

Now, favorite BAR I miss most is easy - That Place (downtown Ames). Loved to start a night out on the town drinking and playing air hockey then sliding upstairs to do some dancing. Second favorite bar would be Tradewinds (sad to see it close).

It was closed before the franchise really took off. I think that might be part of why it closed, actually. The owners decided to revamp Pancheros into the whole "fresh-Mex" genre. Prior to that, the old Pancheros was more like a LaBamba or Flying Burrito (I'm guessing on that last one, I've never been).

There was a philly cheese steak place in west Ames kind of by a landry mat and wendy's It was ran by and english professor from philly. They were the bomb.

I think you're probably thinking of DiSalvo's Deli - open for a few years a few years back? The wife may be an English professor (I'm not sure?), but the husband is a computer tech. They're from the Philly area.

I don't think it's gone but I miss Wallaby's only because we haven't been there forever. MrsWx and I used to go there every Thursday night when we lived out in the Wyndham (I think) apartments out on Florida.

What was the Greek place that was up on the corner of Lincoln Way and Duff? I think they had belly dancers on Friday nights. Fried pickles were great too.

The Palmas was on the SW corner of Lincoln Way and Duff - I must have missed out on the belly dancers if they were there.

Cafe Northwest, maybe? They moved up north of the Sinclair station on the NE corner of Lincoln Way/Duff (in an old hotel building). I've been craving their fried pickles for the last 3.5 months of bedrest - they're the only place I know that does dill slices instead of spears.

I believe the restaurant you are thinking of was Cafe Northwest. They had fantastic Steak Debergo and Greek Spaghetti. Loved that place and it beat the pants off of Palmas!!!

Don't think it went by that name. It was on the west side of Duff about a 1/2 block south of LW. Might have been Cafe Northwest?
