All I'm saying is that alienating your fanbase is bad business. I'm not trying to do an Iowa v ISU thing. ISU needs all the fans and money it can get. So this guy didn't donate or buy tickets under his name. So what? He went to games. He bought merchandise. Heck, I'm sure he even bought a hot dog and a soda at JT/Hilton. Where do you think a portion of that money went? So what if his name doesn't get printed in the program under donating parties. He has a say just like anybody else does. JP pretty much threw him to the curb because he doesn't write out a check to the athletic department every year. The guy is 20 years old. Who at that point in your life had extra income to donate? I'm sure not many. But in 10 years, who knows what this guy could be doing. He and his wife could be pulling a good six figures. Maybe then he'll donate. Probably not though since JP just told him to hit the pavement.

You guys can fight it out on who is more of a fan.

My only issue is why would you forward this to a radio station? What was to be gained? We have a student calling out the AD of a school that he doesn't attend? I have read that this wasn't for publicity but what was the reason then?

While Pollard could have handled it more professionally, if someone sent me an e-mail about how my team at work was doing and telling me that I and my employees should be replaced, I'm not sure I would have been as professional as JP.

My point all night... He let his emotions get to him too much. That's why you don't respond to unless you have a form letter or something. Otherwise you might say something you will regret.

I get around
If we all wasted our time talking semantics when we actually knew what the person intended, nobody would get anywhere.
I don't think we're getting anywhere anyway, so what's the difference. Bottom line is, if you're a Hawk I wouldn't jump into the middle of a Cyclone discussion and expect to get warmly greeted, regardless if it's a public forum or or a private company. How's that?

Yep, swear a bunch in real life or something. Just because you're ****** doesn't mean you have to respond.

Plus, there's nothing greater than someone being a **** head to you, and then you being courteous, but in the "i don't care" way back. It makes them feel like a dbag if they have any type of soul.

Seems to me that maybe his parents should have sent the letter. If in fact he's going to school in Milwaukee, how many games has he attended this year?

Personally, I thought Pollards response was quite benign, considering the level of stupidity in some of the points the kid made.

The kid is frustrated, he chose to vent via a ***** fest to the AD without offering any viable solutions. Sounds like a typical college student.

I'd be embarrassed if he were my kid.

Exactly most of the points I was making... Kid should not of wrote it... Then again... Like I said 100 times... Pollard should have taken the high road, not repsond, or have a form letter for this.

And you know... If Pollard didn't parade out during the Big 12 press conference and just kept his mouth shut, all this would be avoided. Yeah people would be mad about his silence, but you wouldn't have this backlash... Scary huh

Considering I didn't grow up in Iowa and I didn't grow up with the ISU-Iowa rivalry...while Iowa fans can be dbags, if they actually have a good point I'd listen instead of automatically assuming what they have to say is bs.

It doesn't matter. All Hawk fans have this mistaken theory that ISU fans want to hear their opinion. The next time you are with a mixture of Clone and Hawk fans, bring up ISU. Hawk fans will be falling all over themselves to tell you their opinion. They are conditioned somehow, like Pavlov's dogs.

It's terrible when you write something or say something **** headed about someone. And they then come back all polite and proper. It really makes you feel bad and wonder about what you said in the first place.

You're FLAT WRONG if you believe Jamie kicked him to the curb for not donating. The kid is an idiot. Do you really think they should have kept Taylor around?

The letter was nothing more than low blows with no solutions. Jaime simply pointed out that there better ways to make things better than ********. Maybe someday when he matures he will figure that out.

I give Pollard a lot of credit. I would not have been so nice.

Yep, it's hilarious...there's numerous ways to do it too besides words. At the airport a few weeks ago, this guy and his wife sat next to me and he starts saying this **** against his wife basically. He'd look at me and laugh thinking I'd look back at him and laugh back with him. I didn't even look at him or change my facial expression. He did this about three times and after the third time he stopped doing it. I looked at him later and he had the "I'm a dbag" look on his face.

Hey... But we never talk about them...

Except their Orange bowl game thread was longer then any ISU thread I can remember in recent history.

Except how we tease them about Stanzi the panzi.

Except when we comment about their past legal problems and how KF should of been fired.

No... We never talk about them or give our opinions about them. Even on a Cyclone website.

Just like ISU fans are born, bred, and raised to hate every single thing about Iowa fans? Give it up. Every fanbase has their d-bags, but there are subjective fans out there, even Iowa fans. Don't kid yourself, I'm not adding my two cents just to get your undies in a bunch, I pick my battles, and I picked this one because your AD was a dip****. End of story.

Why respond if you're Pollard though?? A couple donors pointed out that they sent Pollard negative emails recently on this issue of Mac and he never responded.

So why to this kid??? To make yourself feel big?? To seem arrogant??? Or make an example which doesn't need to be made.

Personally, I don't understand the reason for the backlash. IMO people are trying to bend Pollard's email into something it clearly is not. Pollard was right to come out, if for no other reason than recruiting. You don't wan't your talent poached due to silence from the AD.

In a strictly public forum, all of the public has equal access. This site can ban anyone for any reason and no questions asked. It's owned by a private company. In my mind a truly public forum is owned by the public much as a park is owned by the public.

Without "the public" this board wouldn't exist. This board doesn't charge anyone any amount of money, and is open to the public. Like a public park, anyone can read and/or post on this board.

Yes, but some people really don't have the money to give up even if they wanted to, or buy season tickets. I think that really goes for a lot of people around.

OK, how about buying single game tickets or bowl tickets through the AD? My point is if you don't give ANYTHING, then you shouldn't have the right to complain or at least complain and be taken seriously.

Don't worry... When a Hawk fan speaks the truth they must be banned because it hurts too much hearing it from someone else. . But when a Cyclone fan says the same thing they are a good point.. But still wrong.

Who says it's the "truth"? It's opinion, nothing more than that.
