Wall Mount TV ????

My parents just got a condo in Mesa and I am helping my dad set their new place. I need to hang 2 54" plasma's on the walls here. But I have a problem. The studs are 24" apart and the mount is not that wide.

My plan of attack is set two in the center of the mount on a stud then in the 4 corners I will place anchors in the drywall for added support. The mount has spots for 4 lags/anchors in each corner I can put more in if needed.

Curious if anyone else has come across this and if you have any suggestions or know if it won't work

Bring here to Des Moines....I need someone to see if they will fit in the BAthrooms...then once they are hung...get your parents two more adn use the system we used to hook them up with.

If he bought the condo....Once you know where you want it... rip the sheetrock out and put supports there for the TV... then repair

If they were LCDs, I think that would be ok, but plasma? What do those things weigh?

I don't think 24" is all the uncommon in warmer climates on non-load bearing walls.

I'd go with Dave's suggestion - and put in a cross member, maybe with a cripple stud.

Your tv mount isn't even 24" wide?

I know this is a different situation but I built a fake wall that holds my 46" plasma.

The TV completely covers up the whole fake wall

83.8 pounds is the weight of the TV I just checked mono price and it says mount won't work on studs spaced more than 16", but the mount is supposed to hold 175 lbs. This weighs less than half

Yeah I don't think most mounts will work on studs greater than 16" unless you make mods like you've described.

There is no way to access the back of the wall is there? Not in the back of a closet on the other side or something?

It would suck to redo drywall, in a closet you could hide your work with a piece of paneling or something. I'd be inclined to add a crossmember for the upper and lower portions of the bracket and attach to that.

Whats it come with for attaching? lag bolts I'm assuming?

yup it is lag bolts for attaching it I don't want to put this thing up and have it fall so I will only do something that will certainly work. and there is no back side access. Good news is, I am think the bed room is 16" apart
