I completely disagree. I'll give you a few names...
Curvey
Jackson
McKinzie
I didn't even include the offensive linemen who are on NFL rosters. We certainly did not lose the weakest players.
I'll take it a step farther, and I would say that we only had 5 impact players on defense last year. We had Curvey, Moorehead, Bowen, McKenzie, Banks. Of those 5, only Bowen and Banks are back. I always felt Brant was overrated, but he's playing in the NFL so what do I know. Stephenson was a previous All Big 12 player. We lost talent, it had underperformed, but it was talent. Not to mention real quality guys and teammates like Kock and Davis.
I have a lot of faith in Chizik, I really do. But this thread is reeking of the Basketball thread from last year where there were a huge number of loons saying that we would win 18+ games and whatnot.
How can you have it both ways? Either we were over-matched physically or out coached.
We are not going to be out coached this year. And evidently there is big 12 level talent on the team. Why can't we expect to win?
Last year was the perfect storm - we were routinely out coached and didn't have the talent. That's how you find yourself 4 plays away from 0-12 and getting blown out by 40 by Kansas at HOME.
I am just saying, we didn't have talent across the line that you need to compete at a high level. The players capable of making a big impact are now gone. I'm not the kind of guy that counds on a huge number of JUCO's to come in and provide a quick fix.
