That is super-clever. *slow-clap*

So, to exactly what bowl that is on ABC would you prefer we go? (I can't believe nobody asked first!) We are going to the best bowl our record would warrant. And you still have provided absolutely nothing constructive to this thread/discussion except for an overused .jpg.

Back to the head in the sand thing here.......you obviously don't understand that everything short of the Fiesta Bowl is a disappointment. A better AD would have convinced the BCS people to make an exception for an ineligible team, and then the tickets just fly off the shelves, we're getting better exposure on TV, and everyone talks about it all month long.

That didn't take me long to figure out. Why are you people so slow lately?

Try to stay on topic. You said that you didn't see how being on TV benefited us in any way. Others, who are not clouded by ignorance, have agreed that you are completely wrong.

This thread is regarding the fact that the game is on the NFL network and we'll get pretty much zero national coverage for our bowl game. If given the choice, it would be nice to have a national audience on a real network. Obviously you disagree, which is fine, but it's a tad bit short-sighted.

BTW, if I'm allowed to choose the bowl, I'd take the Rose.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was saying.

When you put NFL Network and dinner time on New Years EVe together, you get not a lot of casual watchers. That is the reason I wasn't that excited to get this game. I know that none of the bowls would have been a huge draw, but Indy gave us the only game that day and Texas was earlier in the day so I think either of those two get us more audience. IMO, we need as much casual audience as we can get. A lot of people don't know much about us. If they could see us it would be very beneficial to the program.

I would like to know how you classify it as the best because it certainly doesn't draw the most coverage of the three bowls possible. DO you consider it best because it picks first? I would hardly call that a solid way to classify how good a certain bowl will be for a certain team. The Insight bowl was not made for a team that needs exposure. It was made for a high profile team that had a bad year by their expectations (Oklahoma). They could draw the national audience to the NFL Network because they are a big name. We need the bowl itself to draw. We will not draw viewers because of our name.

Pretty sure I get NFL Network on DirecTV, so I'll be tuning in. As for the time and day, that doesn't bother me, as I don't go out for New Year's anymore anyway. 3 kids at home, and it's a PITA to find a babysitter that night. Plus, NYE is over-rated as far as I'm concerned. I'd rather go out when I'm not fighting tooth-and-nail to just get a drink.

No, the topic was TV coverage - YOU never provided a single argument for why it's necessary to receive that coverage. You said that you'd prefer a game on ABC (which is, coincidentally, totally plausible for a team that was projected at the beginning of the year to be bottom of the conference, but has done an admirable job of proving everyone wrong). There have been a ton of responses agreeing with me that it is wholly unnecessary. I understand that you're trolling, but the point is that you could at least pick something plausible. Or you could at least try to pick something that isn't so incredibly insulting to our (I say "our," not "your") players and team - they earned a bowl game through sheer hard work, and you decide to downgrade it at every turn.

Obviously you didn't read any of the 1000 threads about bowl selection over the last three weeks. It's useless to again address the topic of viewers, since it's been discussed ad nauseum in the first several pages of this thread.

You didn't answer the question. It selects teams before the other two possibilities. It has been among the three worst rated bowls the last three years? I want to know how it can be best for us? That is all. If you call it the best because it is in the nicest location, fine, but that doesn't mean anything for the football program.

For this team to get to the we would like it to get to, people have to know who we are before recruitment. If they do not we fight a bias. If kids that are 14-15 now find a little something out about ISU by just seeing a portion of a game because its all that is on, they will at least have some sort of name recognition. I don't know how you can deny that exposure helps us.

Right.

And she told you it's because there is another 1000+ post thread where this has been beaten to death.

Exactly. Just go up in the upper right to the search box and do it yourself. And, again, the argument about recruits has already been addressed.

(Thanks, Bader!)

Right.

And she told you it's because there is another 1000+ post thread where this has been beaten to death.

And none of those threads provide an answer to why this is the best except for that it is the best destination for fans. There is no evidence that supports that that bowl does anything more for this program than the other two. I would gladly change my opinion if I was given some sort of substance on why it is the best for the program.

We were horrible. We're going to a bowl game. Any bowl game is a very good bowl game right now.

And it's insulting to our team to whine about them achieving something that was totally unexpected. I understand that there are Hawk fans acting like ISU fans and JP haters in here, but the team and CPR deserve respect.

At this point I highly doubt that it will happen because:

A) You don't believe it's possible
and
B) Nobody else wants to continue beating this dead horse

Both this bowl and the Texas bowl have their own merits. One of the biggest advantages to playing in the Texas bowl is because of all our recruiting in Texas.

Well, now with Coach Ash on board and his West Coast contacts playing in AZ gives us an opportunity to strengthen those pipelines. Playing in AZ is also good for the players because it's an opportunity for them to play somewhere they've never been before.

And it gives revkah a chance to buy me that crew-neck Insight Bowl T-shirt for Christmas.

Last time we were in the Insight Bowl, she got me that sweatshirt. I gave her an engagement ring, so that worked out

If she's reading this, I hope I'm not too subtle........

Or perhaps she should hurry up before you get confused and propose to whomever buys you the sweatshirt?
