I had a a pizza guy deliver a pizza then come back to the door because he had a flat tire. He didn't have a jack, or a tire iron. He was from India and had no clue how to change his tire. So I got my stuff from the garage and ended up changing it for him.
Worst part was when I got done my pizza wasn't hot anymore
Did he at least give you a tip???

Depends on the weather, if it is cold and snowy and I don't want to leave the house - he/she gets a min of $5 (sometimes more if it is near blizzard conditions and I have been drinking). If it is nice weather they get a $2-3.

I usually tip around $4-5. Never ask for the loose change.

Usually between 3 and 5 bucks, for some reason I feel bad for delivery guys.

Depending on what else you have to do, a lot of places make delivery drivers do dishes as well. The delivery part is great - drive around, listen to the radio, see the reaction of pure joy from drunk people when you show up with food.

other than the money its a great gig.

My favorite delivery is to "drunken relatives". Basically, it happens like this: You have a bunch of drunks who try to out-tip each other at the door. If they're drunk enough, they bid against each other, and if you're lucky, they BOTH end up tipping you. Sometimes in excess of the value of the orders.

My worst is pizza delivery to churches. I've never received a tip from a church or church organization, and they usually want you to act like a caterer and set up and manage the pizza table. If you're lucky, they have the money ready, and you don't have to wait for 30 minutes for the person with the money to show up. All the while you are losing income waiting for them...

Overall, it's a nice job if you are big on being independent.

I see a couple of ex-DaVinci's workers in here...when did you guys work there?

I loved delievering in snow storms, it was a great excuse to drive like a freaking maniac. Nobody on the road and I'm sliding all over the place, it was great.

Usually around $4.

Ding Ding Ding!

If you don't tip your delivery driver, you are really screwing them over because they usually don't make much else other than tips! Sorry but people who pay with exact change are just being cruel!

I hand out Vilsack two pound hams that Drudge is talking about.
Actually $4 no matter of the size of the order. These people are not getting much money for the risk they take driving for fast delivery. Those boys are like NASCAR.

I'm not a huge fan of tipping. Because of that, I rarely order delivery. When I do, it's usually 1-2 bucks. There was one time that my phone died and I went to the neighbors' house to chat just before the burrito came to my place. I came back to my house with a burrito splashed all over my car.

The Da Vinci's POS 2WD Ranger was a drift machine in the snow.

I started in August of 2003 for about a year, then on and off until it closed over Xmas 2004.

We used to tip the Jimmy Johns driver at least $5-$10 every Saturday morning, but that was because we would request he go to Quick Trip and grab us two packs of smokes and a 2-liter of Mountain Dew on his way over.

I got to the point where they'd just know our voice when we called, and ask "Do you need smokes and Mountain Dew too?"

Ah college life...

the driver doesn't even get the delivery charge, some ppl are so tight about tipping good.... the delivery charge goes to the restaurant to pay for the wage of the driver..

Doesn't mean I don't tip well. I tip about 20% for good service in restaurants. With pizza, I prefer to go get it and save money.
