On That Note: Who's on the Guest List?

Welcome back to “On That Note,” CF’s landing spot for music-obsessives. It’s brought to you by @MeanDean, @CycloneRulzzz and cyclones500. I’m your host this week.

This week’s segment stems from a recent suggestion by @Cydar. Post some of your favorites songs that feature a guest vocalist/musician. The focus is NOT standard duets … We’re looking for songs with notable contributions by a musician or singer who isn’t a member of the group (or a solo artist's main band).

Ear wax

From time to time I get eat wax buildup. Only had to had the doctor remove once, holy cow disgusting. Anyways anyone else have this problem, use debrox?

Oh one morning I woke up and felt something in my ear. Got it out with my finger, it's early right so I think it's a spider or some terrible insect. Ear wax. Strange.

Toxic Boss - How do you cope?

I work for an art dealer and my boss is insane. She treats everyone like her personal assistant and is constantly playing mind games. You never know when she will blow up about the slightest issue. Recently she tried to pressure me into attending a New Year’s Day party at her house by suggested that my career “might” depend on it and then guilt tripped me hard for spending NYE with my family.

It has gotten to the point where I feel stupid all the time and am making silly mistakes because my stress level is so high. I’m actively looking for another job but until then I need to survive as best I can. For those of you who are/have been where I am, how do you cope?

Monté Morris vs Tyrese Haliburton

Two of the best point guards in school history I would say, but what would happen if they traded spots? For the sake of comparison I'm just looking at each individual's sophomore season.

Current Tyrese Averages:
GP MIN FG% 3P% FT% REB AST BLK STL PF TO PTS
16 36.4 49.2 38.8 76.7 5.9 7.4 0.6 2.5 1.2 2.7 15.7
AST/TO: 2.74
Team Record: 8-9

2014-2015 Monté Morris Averages:
GP MIN FG% 3P% FT% REB AST BLK STL PF TO PTS
34 33.9 50.7 39.5 75.3 3.4 5.2 0.4 1.9 1.3 1.1 11.9
AST/TO: 4.73
Team Record: 25-9, Big 12 Tourney Champs, lost early in the NCAA Tournament

So how do you think things would play out if they traded spots and how would those two teams be affected by having different point guards? I think the most interesting thing would be to see Tyrese on a team where he can win games by just passing the ball. Lots of scorers on that team, he would rack up the assists.

Twister Sister Summary - changeup leads to much needed win

Many have been clamoring for more minute for Jade Thurmon. Today they got their wish as Jade was put into the starting lineup and what a difference she made. The first half was all Joens and Scott as they were practically the only two scoring. Fortunately Nez and Jade added just enough to keep OSU from pulling ahead too far. But the lack of scoring was evident as the sisters only tallied 25 in the first half.

For a change the third quarter was not our enemy. The ladies came out after halftime to dominate the third. Rather than a two headed beast there was more balanced scoring and the ladies turned on the gas over the last few minutes to edge ahead. Of course we know the ladies won, but was impressed me (and distressed me) were the last few minutes.

During the last 1:30 or so the bad part was ISU wouldn’t score. But what was fun was watching the defense. In particular watching Thurmon seeming to be everywhere using her speed to harass whoever had the ball. The team shut the door on OSU and walked away with the one point win.

A few notes...
Wise is making a difference. She may not be scoring a lot, but her minutes provide relief and take the heat off the other guards.

Thurmon was a difference maker. Not a high percentage shooter (but I think that may change with continued playing time) she still put in 10 points and her speed made the team look different.

Free throws...the team continues to make opponents pay when our ladies are allowed to get to the line.

Assists. This was the most disturbing part of the game. Only 6 assists on 23 baskets along with NINETEEN turnovers won’t cut it. And no...Thurmon didn’t have most of them. She only had 3 which is not too shabby.

This win came at a big time for the team. It stemmed the bleeding and had to restore some faith. Seeing Thurmon step up helped and having Wise continue to contribute in a big way sure helps. Up next are two very winnable games against the wheat teams. Both are at home and the ladies need a rowdy home crowd to help with the home cooking. Two wins would also get them on the positive side of the conference record.
