BEST "DUNK" not dunkers...Iowa State History

Need to pivot from the CMC >>> Penitentiary State University drama...

After watching Iowa Everywhere podcast with CW and Keith Murphy, I went down a rabbit hole after CW mentioned cyclones.tv or byu.tv as a resource...and who would want to meet Dustin Hogue in a dark alley at night comment...

Started watching some old 2014/2015 games which led me to Dustin Hogue's dunk at the end of the 2014 game against KU...Dude just murdered the rim...

Next I found the Chris Babb dunk against Oklahoma State which was jaw-dropping...

Who can forget a couple of years later Abdel 'Darth' Nader's dunk against Oklahoma State...

Last memorable one, and IMHO, the BEST - Deonte 'Timberland' Burton against WVU in Hilton South...

What are your most memorable dunks (not dunkers)?

Puerto Rico wrestler Ames High

Yandro Soto-Rivera

Ames, Jr.

Following in the footsteps of former state champions and current Iowa State wrestlers Daniel Herrera and Christian Castillo, Soto-Rivera gives the Ames wrestling program another dynamic transfer capable of doing damage at state in 2025-26.

Soto-Rivera is an experienced freestyle wrestler who comes to Ames from Puerto Rico. He will begin the season wrestling at 144, and he has the potential to not only reach state, but do damage once he gets there.

2025 NCAA VB Tournament

Yesterday, December 4th saw a few upsets.

The early season loss to UNI doesn’t look as bad, with UNI winning yesterday to face Creighton on Saturday.

The Cyclones face the Tommies at 4:30 (I will be watching and rooting from home).

The Tommies will be motivated being the first team from the college to be in any NCAA Division 1 postseason. The team boasts 9 seniors. They have a 21-9 record.

Height wise, the two teams match up closely. The tallest player on the Tommies is a 6’4” MB. The team stats show the same 7 ladies have been the same rotation all year with 1 somewhat regular 8th player. Again, just basing on stats it looks to be a 5-1 being run by the Tommies. They are hitting .248 for the season while holding opponents to a .173 hitting. They do not appear to be a super strong blocking team and give up more blocks. The team also has more service errors and aces then the Cyclones.

Hopefully the Cyclones can walk away in 3 and then scout the Gophers.

All Big 12 teams

1st team: none

2nd team: Hanson/Brahmer/Flora

3rd team: Miller/Orange/Neal

Honorable mention: Sama/Eskildsen/Sowell/Bonifas/Buhr/Bacon/Konrardy/Perkins

I feel like a few of our guys deserved better, especially Orange

Does anyone know where I might be able to get an old LB White ventless garage heater worked on?

I have tried with getting traditional HVAC companies to work on htese, but they don't want to because of the liabilities assocciated with ventless heaters. I can understand, but who the heck works on them in the Ames area?

Edit: and if they don't charge outragious service fees, that would be great! I hate having to pay someone $130.00 to spend 15 minutes dignosing the issue.

KSU Klieman Press Conference

Listened to Klieman’s retirement press conference just now. Whew, that was a weird one. First, he took no questions and turned it over to the AD, Taylor, after he was done. Mainly seemed to talk about how proud he was that he did things the right way. Although there is a lot of speculation that he is retiring for his wife’s health, didn’t really come up.

Then the AD got on his soapbox a little before taking questions. Said he was “pissed” because it was the state of college football that caused Klieman to get tired of the situation. He also implied some programs were “circumventing “ the settlement and something needs to be done to fix college football.

Most of us would agree the system is broken, but I had not heard anything that some schools are cheating around the settlement.

I couldn’t listen to the whole Q&A, but will be curious to see how the press writes this up.

Matt Campbell to Penn State??

This has to be one of the worst Coaching searches in history. They have gone after 5 or so coaches and the bottom line is they got them all raises at their current school. I would not doubt it if they came after Campbell. I don't think Campbell would go. However, I could see Jamie giving him another raise. Any idea who else they are going after? BYU gave their coach a ton more money.

InCYde Zone: OL dogs, run game strong, and big picture of college football

Jacqueline Cordova, Colin Newell, Jirehl Brock, and Jake Remsburg quickly debrief Iowa State’s final regular-season win over Oklahoma State before taking a step back and looking at the big picture. How good was this offensive line? Looking around at the state of college football and more, courtesy of Wyffels Hybrids.
