Big 12 WBB Postseason Awards

Crooks and Jada 1st Team. Jackson got Scholar-Athlete of the Year

Miles is POY.

Crooks, Miles and Saurez were only unanimous picks for 1st team of the ten selected.

Interesting that Jaliya Davis made 1st team. She was unanimous freshman of the year and I think she 100% deserved 1st team but they don't aways go that way for player on a middling team.

Ode From A Fanatic

"The time has come," The Fanatic said, "to speak of many things
Not of stats and records or trophies or championship rings
We need to speak of joy and fun and why we gather round
Not of loss and disappointment or shots that hit the ground

I understand the seriousness and faces of determination
I understand getting back on defense and not stopping for celebration
I understand we play a psychological game
And speak of the MMA as an exalted name
But we have lost the joy, the showmanship, and The Holy Exclamation!

The high fives have disappeared, along with the pats on the butt!
I do not know if our players even like each other and it's adding to our rut
I know our coach likes poker faces and that emotions are for the weak
But our enthusiasm and love for the game could use a little tweak

We play without joy and support or kinship
and it's adding to our slip
Although you now get paid, it's not supposed to be a job
Our team should be together and protect each other like the mob

Basketball is a game of rhythm and rhythm equals fun
A team that stands together will not be one and done
It's okay to smile it's okay to laugh, it's even okay to hug
It's okay to shake off that air ball with an over dramatic shrug

Do not worry about letting us down, we were here before you and will be here when you are gone,
Worry about playing for your brother, and please bring a little joy along!
Celebrate when things are going well, and cuss when they are bad
We can all cry together when it's over.....you can STILL be the best we've ever had!"

Iowa State announces the discontinuation of the Women's Gymnastics program

BREAKING: Iowa State has made the decision to discontinue the women’s gymnastics program. Here’s the full release.

ISU officially discontinuing gymnastics

"The Iowa State University Athletics Department will discontinue its women's gymnastics program and replace it with another sport that provides equal or additional participation opportunities for women, Endowed ISU Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard announced today."

Grit showed up for No. 6 ISU Monday at No. 2 Arizona, but shot making didn't

Rebounding issues

The past few games our rebounding has been a weakness to say the least. It seems like opponents are constantly getting 2 or 3 shots from offensive boards and it is getting maddening. I think in the Houston game there was a time that Houston got 4 shots in a row against us and luckily it none of them went it. It seemed like Tech had super large number of them that led to open threes that they nailed. When I watch it appears to my untrained eye that our guys seem like they are stuck in the mud and just watch the ball rather than going after it. I know after long shot misses that leads to longer rebounds but it looks like our bigs are crowded under the basket and watching as the other team's guards come flying in for tip outs or boards. I get offensive boards happen a lot on three point shots but it sure seems like we are not being as agressive going after the ball as we should and we wait for the ball to fall in our laps.

Big XII WBB Tournament - Who’s Attending?

January and February were a bear this year, both weather-wise and work-related. We just finished launching a new work management system and I have time to breathe!

I’m giving serious consideration to attending the WBB tournament for the first time in years. I found all session tickets for $156, though I haven’t pulled the trigger. My wife has conflicts and my OSU alum work buddy is mulling it over.

In the interim, who’s going to KC? Where do you stay and where do ISU fans congregate? Do you attend all sessions or just ISU games? TIA

No. 4 ISU aims to rebound in more ways than one on Big Monday at No. 2 Arizona

RADIO RECAP: "Incredible" Audi Crooks drops 41 as the ISU women cruise at Kansas State, 93-79

Twister Sister Summary - the Dominant Offense Returns

It was a battle as expected. The KSU crowd showed up as did both teams. We got to see Audi Crooks go into beast mode in a big win.

Big 12 Wrestling Tournament

We are headed to Tulsa for the Big 12's. We have never been before and don't know what to expect or what to do in Tulsa while we are there. We are staying close to the BOK Center but have heard there is not much of a bar/restaurant scene in the area. We are leaving early Thursday morning from central Iowa so will get down there at a decent time. Where do Cyclone fans hang out? What should we put on our list of things to do and places to eat/drink. We prefer local places when we travel. Thanks for any information from people who have been to Tulsa and Big 12's.

Williams & Blum: Cyclones aren’t dead; nod to Ejim

How big of a deal is Iowa State’s loss to Texas Tech? Well, pretty big. But Chris Williams & Brent Blum are here to give perspective on the coming weeks. A massive road test at Arizona looms on Monday. The guys also discuss Melvin Ejim’s jersey being retired and more, all presented by Mechdyne.
