We are headed to Tulsa for the Big 12's. We have never been before and don't know what to expect or what to do in Tulsa while we are there. We are staying close to the BOK Center but have heard there is not much of a bar/restaurant scene in the area. We are leaving early Thursday morning from central Iowa so will get down there at a decent time. Where do Cyclone fans hang out? What should we put on our list of things to do and places to eat/drink. We prefer local places when we travel. Thanks for any information from people who have been to Tulsa and Big 12's.

In general you are correct about not a ton of options.

There are quite a couple restaurants on 1st St. - McNellie & Albert G BBQ - that are right next to each other and are very popular. There is a social Saturday night at Albert G BBQ.

Arena Pub & Grill is next to Bok so fills up fairly fast.

There’s a couple good breakfast places and a Mexican place NW of Box that is a 15-20 min walk.

Tulsa is a great city for its size. Reminds me a ton of Des Moines.

BOK Center is not far from the Blue Dome district.

Some places I enjoy downtown/Blue Dome:
-Arnie's: Classic dive bar. Darts, shuffleboard, jukebox, cigs
-McNellie's: Nicer Irish pub style place
-Elgin Park: Straight up sports bar. I watched us beat Wazzu in the round of 32 here a couple years ago. Really fun place.
-Fassler Hall: German beer hall with cool outdoor space if it's nice.

You aren't terribly far from the Pearl district either. Some good spots in that neighborhood.
-Bramble: killer brunch joint
-American Solera: World class brewery
-Marshall Brewing: Very good brewery
-Cabin Boys Brewing: Another very good brewery

If you're a music buff, check out the Mercury (SE of downtown) after wrestling's over. Incredible dive bar that will probably have some crazy talented local musician playing.

We visit there fairly often. There a several good food/bar options on Reconciliation Way. We enjoy Amelia's and Bar 46 is a fun little dive bar about a block away. Al nailed the rest. I would definitely take the Uber trip to Killkenny's, it is my favorite spot in town.

Can start our annual bitchfest about getting screwed on pigtails or do we have to wait until we see the brackets?

We've already moved on to complaining about weigh-ins.

Also, first-round byes are probably not going to matter at all in the team race based on what I think the seeds are going to be.

Since the tournament is Friday/Saturday this year, I believe the Albert G social will be on Friday night.

Since the tournament is Friday/Saturday this year, I believe the Albert G social will be on Friday night.
From Dresser's email, Albert G's is Saturday.

We look forward to seeing many of you in Tulsa as the Cyclones take the mat at the Big 12 Wrestling Championships.
For those attending, please join us at our social Saturday evening at Albert G’s BBQ (421 E First St. Tulsa, OK 74120), following the conclusion of the tournament. I will speak at the social and my staff and athletes will be in attendance.
