On Monday's edition of the Daily Clone, Jake Brend shows how Matt Campbell and Rocco Becht are responding to the loss by taking accountability. As the football team moves into a bye, Brend takes a look at basketball season and explains the importance of the two-man game development between Milan Momcilovic and Joshua Jefferson and what areas those two are emphasizing heading into the team. Plus, Curtis Jones has a breakout in the NBA preseason.

That leaves the Cyclones with plenty of soul searching heading into the bye, as Andrew Harrington writes in this week’s Monday Musings.

*** 2025 College Football Survivor Week 8 ***

4 gone were are down to 87.

A reminder regarding tiebreaker points: If your team wins and covers you gain an extra bonus point. If you take a undefeated team who is the underdog you gain the point for them covering plus another bonus point. As the season goes on the number of teams undefeated being a underdog greatly diminish so take advantage while you can.

Taking a double digit underdog who wins gets you 3 bonus points

3 teams plays 2 FBS in this time period Fresno St. Hawaii and and Sam Houston State. If you take them before their first game they will need to win twice for you to advance.

I will be using ESPN's Lines. Line will be the line at kickoff for tiebreaker points.

Bringing back the reward for top finisher other than bragging rights. Since this is a contest on Cyclone Fanatic I like the idea of the reward going back to helping ISU athletics.
For the top 3 CYCLONE Fan finishers (Hawks fans are as always are welcome to play but this is a contest on a Cyclone fan board) I will donate $75, $50 and $25 to @brentblum and We Will on your behalf.

*** 2026 Chicago Cubs Offseason Thread ***

Time to move forward.
Let’s start with the rotation.
Current projected rotation and years of control

Taillon 26/ $18 mil
Boyd 26/ $17 mill 27/ mutual option
Imanaga complicated but longest iption
26/ $20 mil 27/ $20 mil 28/ $17
Steele 26/ Arb 27/ Arb
Horton still pre Arb

6. Assad 3 yrs Arb
AAA Wiggins
Rea UFA

First I included Rea because he wants to be here and if he’s your 5th you’re pretty good.

Taillon is the guy I look to move in the offseason. He’s in his final year and it’s reasonable at $18m. This puts small markets in play. I just believe he has good value and Rea can give you similar results. I’d like to see us sign Rea to a shorter multi year with team options in 27 and 28.

Assad as your six gives you a swing guy with middle of the rotation ability.

Horton he’s a one/two starter hopefully for the next ten years.

Wiggins should be the guy at AAA. He was a top 10 draft pick that got hurt and we stole in the second. Hopefully the other half of a one two with Horton for years to come.

Steele man I hope he can come back strong. I’m sure they’ll know that before spring training. If he isn’t I think we are looking for ace but end up with a middle rotation guy.

Boyd so happy for this guy and ecstatic he’s back.

Finally Shota. Something needs to change to get him back to dominant which he was in 24. I think it starts with the fastball. Maybe he goes through the offseason program designed to find gas. He needs to be around 93 not 90.

Throw ins
Wicks personally I’m done with this guy. Make him an inning eater at Iowa so you can work the real prospects exactly how you want.

Brown I’d hate to give up on that type of stuff. Just look at Palencia. But I think you commit to being a one inning reliever not bouncing back and forth. If you do that up tick guys get probably lets him touch 100 consistently.
