Time to move forward.
Let’s start with the rotation.
Current projected rotation and years of control
Taillon 26/ $18 mil
Boyd 26/ $17 mill 27/ mutual option
Imanaga complicated but longest iption
26/ $20 mil 27/ $20 mil 28/ $17
Steele 26/ Arb 27/ Arb
Horton still pre Arb
6. Assad 3 yrs Arb
AAA Wiggins
Rea UFA
First I included Rea because he wants to be here and if he’s your 5th you’re pretty good.
Taillon is the guy I look to move in the offseason. He’s in his final year and it’s reasonable at $18m. This puts small markets in play. I just believe he has good value and Rea can give you similar results. I’d like to see us sign Rea to a shorter multi year with team options in 27 and 28.
Assad as your six gives you a swing guy with middle of the rotation ability.
Horton he’s a one/two starter hopefully for the next ten years.
Wiggins should be the guy at AAA. He was a top 10 draft pick that got hurt and we stole in the second. Hopefully the other half of a one two with Horton for years to come.
Steele man I hope he can come back strong. I’m sure they’ll know that before spring training. If he isn’t I think we are looking for ace but end up with a middle rotation guy.
Boyd so happy for this guy and ecstatic he’s back.
Finally Shota. Something needs to change to get him back to dominant which he was in 24. I think it starts with the fastball. Maybe he goes through the offseason program designed to find gas. He needs to be around 93 not 90.
Throw ins
Wicks personally I’m done with this guy. Make him an inning eater at Iowa so you can work the real prospects exactly how you want.
Brown I’d hate to give up on that type of stuff. Just look at Palencia. But I think you commit to being a one inning reliever not bouncing back and forth. If you do that up tick guys get probably lets him touch 100 consistently.
