I have to admit I didn't watch the game last night. My band was rehearsing getting ready for a gig. But it went about like i thought it would. Baylor focused on Joens and while she didn't score as much she still worked hard and got some things done. Still like how Thurmon is evolving. The biggest downside that I can see is the atrocious free throw shooting. That was just bizarre.
Final note...Baylor is #1 for a reason. They are loaded for bear (pun intended) and are freaking good. The best part? We only play them one more time.
I'll leave you all with a question. This pertains to other conferences as well. Is it a good thing to have one team dominate a league the way Baylor and UConn do? The first 15 years of Fennelly's career here saw several teams battle for conference titles. It was engaging and interesting. But now...its all a battle for second place. What do you think?
Big fan so far. Love Elaine and the Olympic Swimmer. Can't remember her name. No guy has really made an impression of me so far except the perve old dude who keeps trying to rub young girls.
I liked the first Idol Island thing. Rob and Sandra can offer things if you beat them in a contest. That works pretty well so far. Although did the lady not see how fast Rob built that first fire? Then again if you are going to lose a vote, it's good to do it with that many cast members still instead of later on down the line when the votes are close.
My wife and I are looking at purchasing a new build in Ankeny this summer. Does anyone have experiences (good, bad, or otherwise) with home building companies in the Des Moines Metro?
I don't have a ton of specifics as far as information goes but did ask around for general thoughts on the scrimmage vs. Wisconsin over the weekend.
The final score was pretty ugly but I'm hearing the damage was done in the second half. Apparently ISU was very strong in the first 20 and then just collapsed in the second.
Not sure exactly what to take from it other than inconsistency should somewhat be expected with this group early on. ISU did lose 80 percent of its scoring from a year ago.
I'd be really interested to hear about lineups, etc. Is ISU exclusively playing with 2 bigs?
Heard that the defense has been rough early, which is gonna be a problem, as this team isn't elite offensively by any means. I guess the good thing is the defense will no doubt get better with more reps. It generally always does.
Sorry I don't have more in the form of specifics. Will work on that today.
Just thought I'd start a separate thread about a real beef I've got with how replay is being executed this year.
In the Small match, initially, he was awarded 2 BP and wrestling was stopped with around :11 to go in the period. Todd had over a minute of riding time and a 7-4 lead. After the review, they took away the 2 BP (questionable, but whatever) but my bigger beef is that they reset the clock back to 1:07 in the period and took away all that riding time. Whether he got the 2 back or not had no bearing on the fact that he had control through that whole timeframe. If they restart at :11 seconds, Todd rides through the 2nd, with RT, it could have been a very different outcome.
Anyone else have a problem with this or care to explain why it was called this way? I can see certain instances where you would want to go back to the point in time (eg - TD being reversed), but this seemed to make no sense. I guess it's just a letter of the law type rule?
A powerful magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck in the sea south of Cuba on Tuesday, triggering a tsunami warning for Cuba, Jamaica and the Cayman Islands, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the International Tsunami Information Center said.
Welcome back to On That Note, a weekly music series hosted by @MeanDean, @cyclones500 and myself.
This week we are looking for songs and lyrics that mention geometric shapes (2- or 3-dimension) and words commonly describing those shapes (such as “round” for circle and “ball” for sphere). Even though shape is in the title we aren't allowing example involving the word shape.

@jcyclonee asks: I know it's late for this week's mailbag but can we hear GTO's joke about boning Wonder Woman?
GTO: Here’s the joke (it’s not that great and NSFW): Censored
Bannedman: ? Pants: This is offensive and you should be deeply ashamed. GTO: It is in pretty bad taste and maybe should only be delivered via PM. I never said it was good. Pants: I’d be more offended if you censored it. GTO: you want it back? Pants: Honestly, I’m surprised not everyone knows that one. Feels like it’s been around since I was a kid.
@jcyclonee again: Sorry. I have one more very important question for this week. I guess this one could be for next week. Can you please handicap the Tetris World Championship contenders? @coolerifyoudid responds: Isn't being socially handicapped enough ?
Bannedman: no Pants: Maybe we should have Cooler as a guest at some point? GTO: I don’t know, but this year’s field is absolutely stacked (pun intended). We have (actual pictures):
Self-proclaimed bad boy of Tetris, Jonas “The Long Piece Nightmare” Neubauer
Tomohiro “The Japanese Burrito” Tatejima
Koji “Too Old for this Sh*t” Nishio
European champion Svavar “the Scandinavian Heartbreaker” Gunnarsson
17-year old Tetris phenom and current champion Joseph “The Bedwetter” Saelee
Tetris creator Alexey “Big Daddy” Pajitnov.
Pants: I feel like I should know about this whole thing, but I just can’t bring myself to care. At all.
It's been several years since I've even thought about posting to my old fan blog site, but I felt the urge recently with all of the turmoil and debate surrounding MBB. Enjoy and please share your thoughts!
I have been going to the same stylist for ~2 years. Several months ago, she left for maternity leave and I had 2 haircuts with a substitute at the same salon. The haircuts were drastically better. Their work-stations are adjacent, so it would be unavoidable to see the old stylist every time if I were to make the switch. Would it be poor form to make the switch? Any advice in dealing with this or am I stuck with average haircuts forever so I don't feel bad?
I need to upgrade my 4-yr old iPhone. Is it beneficial to wait for the newer 5G rollout later this year, or are late model phones already 5G compatible?
PS: I live in Houston and there already is some 5G service. Also, I don't buy the latest release model as I prefer to buy either refurbished, or older model phones.
Not sure if there's a thread on it yet, but hy vee is buying up shuttered shopko stores in small towns and turning them into smaller scale versions of the real deal. Not really a big deal, but kind of a cool idea to get a footprint in smaller communities. Im not a huge fan of the name, though, "dollar fresh". Not sure what the process was in deciding on a name, but seems like it would implicate these communities are getting a watered down version. Just call them Hy-Vee imo. Curious to see what others thoughts are
Hello. My daughter cheers for ISU. Looking for basketball tickets in sections close to where they cheer. Looking for 121-123 or might even be interested in 117, 118, 126, or 127. Need 4 tickets please, or 2 and 2 if reasonably located.
Just looking through the forum the last few days and right at this moment I see multiple. How bad have things got when people are GIVING AWAY tickets vs the #1 team in the nation and if not given away they are selling for $5-$10. just let that sink in
