AMES — The Iowa State Letterwinners Club announced today Iowa State’s Athletics Hall of Fame class of 2015. Six former Cyclone greats will be inducted into the Iowa State Hall of Fame on Oct. 16 in a special ceremony at the ISU Alumni Center in Ames.
The inductees will be honored at halftime of the Iowa State-TCU football game on Oct. 17.
The Iowa State Hall of Fame was established in 1997 and 160 Cyclone legends have been enshrined. To purchase tickets to the ceremony, contact Diane Shearer or Lindsey Long in the ISU Development office at 515-294-5022.

Dale Bahr, Wrestling (1966-68)
• Three-time All-American (1966, 1967, 1968).
• Runner-up national champion at 145 pounds in 1966.
• Won the 1968 145-pound NCAA title.
• Won the 1966 Midlands 145-pound title.
• Head coach at Michigan from 1978-99.
• Inducted into Iowa’s Glen Brand Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2012.
Marcus Fizer, Basketball (1998-2000)
• The second consensus All-American in school history (Gary Thompson), earning first-team honors from every major outlet in 2000.
• Averaged 22.8 points and 7.7 rebounds in 1999-2000, setting ISU single-season records in scoring (844) and field goals made (327).
• Runner-up Associated Press and Wooden Award National Player of the Year in 2000.
• Big 12 Conference Player of the Year in 2000.
• Led Cyclones to the Big 12 regular season and tournament titles in 2000.
• Two-time first-team All-Big 12 (1999, 2000) pick, leading the league in scoring both seasons.
• Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Year and Basketball Times Freshman All-American in 1998.
• Highest NBA draft pick in Iowa State history as the fourth selection in 2000.
Stacy Frese, Basketball (1998-2000)
• Two-time All-American, including a second-team choice by the Associated Press in 2000.
• Three-time winner of ISU’s Female Athlete of the Year Award (1998, 1999, 2000).
• 1998 Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Year and two-time first-team All-Big 12 pick (1999, 2000).
• Led Iowa State to three-straight NCAA Tournaments, including Elite Eight (1999) and Sweet Sixteen (2000) appearances.
• Led ISU to its first Big 12 regular-season and tournament championship in 2000.
• Owns school record for 3-pointers made in a season (100).
• Owns two of the top-10 ISU single-season scoring marks: 1998 (7th, 524); 1999 (9th, 516).
• Made 8-of-8 3-pointers vs. Nebraska in 1999, the second-best single-game 3-point percentage performance in NCAA history.
• Selected by the Utah Starzz in the 2000 WNBA Draft.
George Martin, Wrestling (1931-33)
• Two-time All-American (1932, 1933).
• Won the 1933 165-pound NCAA title.
• Led the Cyclones to the 1933 NCAA team championship, the first team title in school history.
• Won the 1934 AAU national title at 175 pounds.
• Two-time Big Six Conference champion (1932, 1933).
• Head coach at Wisconsin from 1936-42, 1946-70.
• Inducted into the Wisconsin’s Helms Hall of Fame in 1969.
• Charter member of the Iowa Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1970.
Jeff Myers, Track & Field/Cross Country (1974-78)
• Iowa State’s first sub-four-minute miler.
• Won the 1977 Big Eight indoor mile title.
• All-American miler (fifth) at the 1977 NCAA Indoor Championships.
• Two-time Drake Relays champion.
• Participated in the 1976 U.S. Olympic Trials.
• Helped team win the 1974 Big Eight cross country title.
Tim Van Galder, Football/Baseball (1964-66)
• All-conference performer in both football and baseball.
• As quarterback, led the Big Eight in passing and total offense in 1965 and 1966.
• Set the single-season Big Eight total offense record of 1,749 yards in 1966 to rank 12th nationally.
• Played in the 1966 East-West Shrine Game.
• Earned first-team All-Big Eight honors as a pitcher in 1965 with a 1.57 ERA.
• Was the last Cyclone to toss a no-hitter, blanking Colorado 4-0 in 1966.
• Was the opening day starter for the NFL’s St. Louis Cardinals in 1972, one of four Cyclone signal-callers to start a game in the NFL.
