Iowa State has earned a commitment out of the transfer portal in former Indiana offensive lineman Austin Barrett.
The 6-foot-6, 310-pounder appeared in five games for the Hoosiers a season ago.
Barrett chose the Cyclones over finalists Oklahoma State, Louisville, K-State and Western Michigan, and will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Barrett will join his brother Dylan, who started his career at Wisconsin before transferring to Iowa State, on the line.
The addition of Barrett will help the Cyclones cushion the offensive line room after the departure of Wade and Brent Helton, who entered the portal earlier this month.
Both of the Helton’s were expected to see the field in some way this season, so the addition of Barrett puts Iowa State a bit closer to the 8 ball.
