Iowa State men’s basketball may have rounded out its roster with its latest addition in Dominick Nelson, a shooting guard transferring in from Utah Valley.

Nelson averaged 14.4 points per game last season for Utah Valley in route to earning WAC Player of the Year honors.

The 6-foot-5, 180-pound guard also collected 5.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game for the Wolverines.

What it means: Iowa State is getting a guard that knows how to get to the rim, and maybe more importantly, the free throw line.

Nelson shot 80 free throws more than any Iowa State player and although he finished at 68.8 percent there, he averaged seven free throw attempts per game.

This will likely round out Iowa State’s 2025-26 roster unless things change.
