RECRUITING: Iowa State earns commitment from Yale EDGE Tamatoa McDonough

Iowa State earned its latest commitment out of the transfer portal on Thursday in Yale defensive end Tamatoa McDonough.

The 6-foot-5, 255-pound prospect announced his decision over his social media accounts.

The Cyclones have been trying to add both quality and depth at the position since the departure of standout Tyler Onyedim, who is transferring to Texas A&M.

Onyedim was the first starter on either of the past two teams in Ames to enter the portal by choice, and left the Cyclones with some space to fill on the edge.

McDonough brings an impressive resume out of Yale, leading the Ivy League last year with seven sacks, 27 tackles and two forced fumbles.

The Asheville, North Carolina native chose Iowa State over Virginia and Yale.

He will have one year of eligibility remaining.
