Former Cyclone A.J. Klein has officially announced his retirement from the National Football League after 11 seasons as a player.

During his time at Iowa State, Klein was a two-time, all-Big 12 first teamer and the 2011 Big 12 co-defensive player of the year while helping the Cyclones to three bowl games in four seasons – a program best at the time.

Klein finished his career with 17 double-digit tackle games and holds the Iowa State record with four defensive touchdowns.

The Kimberly, Wisconsin native was drafted to the Carolina Panthers in the fifth round of the 2013 draft.

After four years in Carolina, Klein spent time with the New Orleans Saints, Buffalo Bills, New York Giants, Baltimore Ravens, and Chicago Bears.

He would ultimately return to Buffalo to finish out his career with the Bills, where he helped them during their playoff push. Klein speaks about it during his appearance on Kickin’ It here:

Klein retires with 465 total tackles, 15.5 sacks, 8 forced fumbles and 4 interceptions.
