RECRUITING: Iowa State lands latest in-state prospect in ’25 WR Zay Robinson

Iowa State has landed its latest in-state commitment for the 2025 class in standout wide receiver Xzavion ‘Zay’ Robinson out of West Des Moines Valley.

The 6-foot-1 prospect is rated as the top wide receiver in the state. He announced his commitment over social media Tuesday night.

Robinson chooses the Cyclones over offers from Iowa, Colorado, Kansas State, Missouri and Vanderbilt.

The talented wideout sat out for the 2023 football season due to a shoulder injury that kept him off the field, but he did help lead Valley to its second basketball state championship in a row this season.

Robinson is the fourth player to verbally commit to Iowa State in the 2025 recruiting class that is rated in the top 8 of the in-state prospect rankings on 247 Sports.

Top in-state 2025 prospects (247Sports)
1. Nick Brooks (undecided)
2. Thomas Meyer (Iowa)
3. Alex Manske (Iowa State)
4. Zay Robinson (Iowa State)
5. Mason Woods (undecided)
6. Jack Limbaugh (Iowa State)
7. Malachi Curvey (Kansas)
8. Will Tompkins (Iowa State)

The addition of Robinson brings Iowa State’s recruiting class up to No. 29 in the country at the time of this article. That number will fluctuate a lot going forward, but it’s notably solid start to the class for this staff.
