WBB RECRUITING: Agot Makeer talks culture during Game Day visit in Ames

Iowa State hosted a highly touted wing on a Game Day visit on Saturday at Hilton Coliseum in four-star prospect Agot Makeer.

The 6-foot-1 Ontario native toured Iowa State’s facilities and was in attendance for both the men’s and women’s games.

“(My visit has) been really good,” Makeer said. “We’ve done a lot of different things and have got to see every aspect of what happens at Iowa State. We got to watch the men’s game… it was so loud. It was surreal for the people playing on the court, so that excited me.”

Makeer is rated as a four-star prospect by ESPN and is considered a top 60 recruit in the 2025 class.

Makeer referenced the longevity of Iowa State’s staff and the program’s overall success as things that stuck out to her about the program in Ames.

“The staff has been together for a long time – that says a lot about Iowa State,” Makeer said. “They win a lot of games, they make the tournament a lot. It’s obvious that they have a good system going.”

Other frontrunners in the mix to land Makeer include UNC, Duke, Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State and Miami, but Iowa State may have separated itself a bit this weekend.

“I’d say culture is the most important (thing I look for in a program). I feel like culture is big here and that’s definitely helping me narrow things down.”
