RECRUITING: Dwayne Pierce talks Iowa State-Texas visit, staff in Ames

Dwayne Pierce was in attendance on a recruiting visit on Tuesday night at Hilton Coliseum, where the No. 12 Iowa State Cyclones came up with a 78-67 win over No. 7 Texas.

For the 6-foot-5, 190-pound target in the 2024 class, it was different than he had seen before.

“It was a very interesting atmosphere,” Pierce said. “It’s different from what I’m used to, it was very fun. I got to meet a lot of different people and I got to see a lot of different scenery, so I was very happy about that.”

Pierce holds offers from Memphis, Florida State, Illinois, Nebraska, Georgia Tech, LSU, St. Johns, New Mexico and George Washington.

The small forward out of New York is rated as a four-star prospect and the No. 100 overall in the 247Sports class rankings.

He was impressed with the chemistry between Iowa State’s coaching staff during his visit to Ames.

“I like how everybody’s involved, as in the head coach and assistant coaches,” Pierce said. “Like, all the coaches have a say. I feel like all the coaches are always positive and it definitely rubs off on the players. It seems like they’re all proud to be there.”

Iowa State’s 2024 class already has a pair of top 100 prospects and is rated as the No. 4 class in the country at the time of this article.
