RECRUITING: Helton twins’ allegiance stays with Iowa State as interest picks up

Wade and Brent Helton originally committed to Iowa State in June, but that hasn’t stopped programs from continuing to push to try and flip the pair of highly touted offensive linemen.

That isn’t atypical in college football. Programs try to flip committed recruits at every school. The Helton’s are no different.

“Oh, great,” Wade Helton said about the conversations he and his brother have had with Iowa State’s staff. “We still love Iowa State. We’re still committed. We’re not going anywhere.”

The twins, who went through their recruitment process as a ‘packaged deal,’ were offered by California earlier this month.

A report from 247 Sports stated that the pair could use an official visit date before the end of the season, however they don’t anticipate using it.

“We probably won’t take another (visit),” Helton said. “We’re good. We’re pretty strong with Iowa State. We love coach Campbell and coach Clanton.”

The pair of three-star prospects are on a bye week this week before Centennial High School faces off with Orange Lutheran in the first round of the playoffs on November 10 at 7:00 p.m. pacific time.
