RECRUITING: Iowa State earns a pair of OL commitments from Helton twins

Iowa State football earned not one, but two commitments to the 2024 recruiting class on Wednesday, with the announcement of the Helton twins’ decision.

Wade and Brent Helton, a pair of offensive linemen out of Corona, California, made their choice official to join offensive line coach Ryan Clanton in Ames.

“It’s awesome (to get to be recruited with my brother),” Wade said before the twins were on campus for their official visits. “It’s a dream come true and it’s a dream to go play Big 12 or Big 10 football.”

The Helton twins wanted to be recruited as a packaged deal, and nearly agreed on everything when talking over their top choices.

“We kind of see everything the same way,” Helton said. “It’s easy, honestly.”

The pair chose Iowa State after taking other visits to SMU, Arizona State and Oregon State.

They wanted to play football in the Midwest, and get to do so as part of the 2024 class now.

Each of the twins are listed at 6-foot-5 and are around the 300-pound mark going into their senior year of prep football.

With the additions of the twins, Iowa State now sits at 15 commits for the 2024 class with more set to be decided in the coming weeks.
