Tyrese Haliburton is officially the highest-scoring former Iowa State player in NBA All-Star history.

The former Cyclone star scored 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range, in Sunday night’s NBA All-Star Game in Salt Lake City. He also added three assists and a rebound for Team LeBron in its 184-175 loss to Team Giannis.

Haliburton’s 18 points are the most ever by a former Iowa State player in the All-Star game, surpassing Jeff Hornacek, who scored 11 points in the 1992 edition of the game.

Boston’s Jayson Tatum was named the game’s MVP after scoring an All-Star record 55 points for Team Giannis.

Haliburton, who played at Iowa State from 2018-20, was selected by LeBron James with his fourth pick in the reserves draft before Sunday night’s game. James played only 14 and a half minutes in the game before suffering a hand injury while trying to block a shot.

The All-Star appearance will be another springboard for Haliburton, who has become one of the league’s fastest rising stars while averaging 19.9 points, 10.1 assists and 1.8 steals per game this season for the Indiana Pacers.

His 10.1 assists per game currently rank No. 4 in the NBA.
