Iowa State star tight end Charlie Kolar is expected to miss Saturday’s season-opening game against Northern Iowa with a lower-body injury, per an Iowa State spokesman.

Kolar’s status for next week’s game against Iowa is unclear.

This will be the second straight season opener Kolar has missed. He caught 44 passes for 591 yards and seven touchdowns last season after sitting out of the team’s loss to Louisiana to open the year.

Without Kolar in the lineup, expect to see redshirt sophomore Easton Dean slide into the rotation at tight end alongside senior Chase Allen.
