Transfer guard Prentiss Nixon will undergo surgery to repair bone spurs in his left ankle, according to a report by the Ames Tribune‘s Travis Hines. The sit-out transfer from Colorado State is expected to be sidelined 4-to-6 weeks while he recovers from the surgery.
Nixon averaged 16.1 points and shot 33 percent from 3-point range as a junior for the Rams last season. He will sit out the 2018-19 season before being eligible to suit up for the Cyclones in 2019-20.
The news of Nixon’s surgery adds to the list of Cyclones missing time this summer as Zion Griffin (arthroscopic knee surgery), Nick Weiler-Babb (internship) and Cameron Lard (enrolled in wellness center) are all expected to be away from on-court team activities for extended periods of time.
