Ejim, Kane score summer league opportunities

Two former Cyclones will get opportunities in the upcoming NBA summer leagues.

A few weeks ago, DeAndre Kane signed a summer deal with the Atlanta Hawks.

Yesterday on 1460 KXnO’s “Sports Fanatics” program, Melvin Ejim said that he will head to Orlando on Tuesday for an opportunity with the Magic.

“It’s a great opportunity for me to try and make my way to the NBA and try to live my goals and dreams,” Ejim said. “At summer league there are always a number of guys who come out and you never know what is going to happen with trades or stuff like that. This is really just and opportunity for me to put myself in front of Orlando and all of the other teams who are there watching.”

Ejim averaged 7.7 points and led Virtus Roma (Italy) in rebounds with 6.3 per game last season. He recently signed on to play in Germany next year but has an NBA out clause protecting him, should he make it in America.

“Orlando is a young team,” Ejim said. “There is a ton of opportunity not only with them but also the other teams that will be at the summer league.”

Kane spent time in Russia and Belgium last season. Atlanta will participate in the 2015 Las Vegas summer league.
