Nov. 17 is going to be one of the biggest days of the 2013-14 Iowa State men’s basketball season.
Michigan will be in town. As will Dick Vitale. As will Rashad Vaughn.
As will Jameel McKay.
On Thursday night, the former Indian Hills Community College small forward tweeted that he will be attending the Iowa State – Michigan game. In addition to that, Travis Hines from the Ames Tribune is reporting that Fred Hoiberg paid McKay an in-home visit on Thursday.
McKay announced that he was transferring away from Marquette because of "disagreements on things."
McKay will have two years of eligibility after sitting out this season. The problem is, as Hines outlined, Iowa State doesn’t currently have a scholarship open for the 2014 spring semester. McKay would have to pay his own way for that half of the year.
Initially, McKay chose Marquette over the likes of Iowa State, Illinois, Indiana, Memphis and Missouri.
If Hoiberg is able to pull this off, it would no doubt be huge for the 2014/15 team that will also add Abdel Nader, who is currently sitting out this season due to NCAA transfer rules.
