Thomas - 8/4/94 - 20-3 - SO
Cooke - 1/5/95 - 19-10 - SO
Morris - 6/27/95 - 19-5 - SO
Custer - 6/28/95 - 19-5 - FR
Tsalmpouris - 6/22/96 - 18-5 - FR
A couple things that pop out to me:
- Monte Morris and Georgios Tsalmpouris, in my view the two ISU players with the highest NBA ceilings, are both on the younger side of their classes, a good sign for the possible development curve of both players. Morris, for example, is only one day older than Clayton Custer.
- On that same note, Abdel Nader is at a normal age for the junior class, but sat out last season, meaning his two seasons at Northern Illinois were played at 18 and 19 years old. That context makes whatever issues he had there at least a little more forgivable.
- Dorsey-Walker was already a little old for his class, and then redshirted. He will turn 22 before the end of his sophomore season, and thus, will turn 24 before his eligibility is up.
- Let's assume that this year's extended rotation ends up being Morris/Custer/Thomas/Long/Dejean-Jones/Hogue/Niang/Nader/McKay/Tsalmpouris. That would mean all 10 rotation players were born in June, August, or September. Smart move by Hoiberg to recruit guys who wouldn't have birthdays during the season - no distractions.
- The player pages at cyclones.com have Facebook comments enabled. That seems odd.
