All birthdays taken from player bios at cyclones.com. Ages are presented as years-months, as of November 14, 2014.

Hogue - 6/30/92 - 22y-4m - SR
Dejean-Jones - 8/21/92 - 22-3 - rSR
McKay - 9/14/92 - 22y-2m - rJR
Edozie - 10/11/92 - 22-1 - SR
Dorsey-Walker - 3/16/93 - 21-8 - rSO
Niang - 6/17/93 - 21-5 - JR
Long - 8/3/93 - 21-3 - JR
Nader - 9/25/93 - 21-2 - rJR
Thomas - 8/4/94 - 20-3 - SO
Cooke - 1/5/95 - 19-10 - SO
Morris - 6/27/95 - 19-5 - SO
Custer - 6/28/95 - 19-5 - FR
Tsalmpouris - 6/22/96 - 18-5 - FR

A couple things that pop out to me:

- Monte Morris and Georgios Tsalmpouris, in my view the two ISU players with the highest NBA ceilings, are both on the younger side of their classes, a good sign for the possible development curve of both players. Morris, for example, is only one day older than Clayton Custer.

- On that same note, Abdel Nader is at a normal age for the junior class, but sat out last season, meaning his two seasons at Northern Illinois were played at 18 and 19 years old. That context makes whatever issues he had there at least a little more forgivable.

- Dorsey-Walker was already a little old for his class, and then redshirted. He will turn 22 before the end of his sophomore season, and thus, will turn 24 before his eligibility is up.

- Let's assume that this year's extended rotation ends up being Morris/Custer/Thomas/Long/Dejean-Jones/Hogue/Niang/Nader/McKay/Tsalmpouris. That would mean all 10 rotation players were born in June, August, or September. Smart move by Hoiberg to recruit guys who wouldn't have birthdays during the season - no distractions.

- The player pages at cyclones.com have Facebook comments enabled. That seems odd.

My dad told me growing up you'll start to feel old when all the sports teams you cheer for have all younger players than you.

I still have baseball to hang on to but yeah, I'm old.

The old age really feeling gets worse when you come to that age when you realize there are players on the team that weren't even born yet when you wee a freshman. And until then you never thought you were that old because you remember your ISU years as if they happened yesterday.

Someone has way too much time on their hands.

...says the guy with 4400 posts in the last two years.

It took five minutes to get the birthdays, five minutes to add ages and classes, and five minutes to type of a few observations. Sorry?

Can't say I disagree with this. Tsalmpouris might hardly even play this year too. It would be something very new at Iowa State to have a future NBA player as a bench warmer.

I noticed the walk-on's birthdays fall into the "not during basketball season" scenario, too. Maybe more to this than we think?!?

Jackson: 5/26/93 21y - 6m? JR
Stensland: 8/3/95 19y - 3m? FR
