YES! But John is an Iowa State employee. I want him to cheer for our teams and to be excited. Chad is supposed to be an unbiased reporter who shouldn't act like an employee of Iowa.
John is paid by ISU to be the voice of its athletic teams. Actual journalists that cover a team “objectively” should never be cheerleaders if they want to be considered a journalist.
