I know CW usually does this during his wrap-up, but I didn't see it anywhere, and it's usually my favorite part. So I thought it might be interesting to see what the fans think.

What are your "Up & Down" from Saturday?

Up:
Tyrus McGee - Dude is on a roll lately. I have seen a lot of people saying he should be starting, but I think the energy he provides off the bench is amazing. Besides, who would he start over? Allen - Like him or not, he is the PG we have right now. Babb - Yeah he's in another shooting slump, but his D has been outstanding. Ejim - We need that size to guard the 4 to start the game. Scotty - Please.

Defense - I know TT was overmatched, but that was one of the best defensive games we have had all year.

White's passing - A couple of those passes were REALLY good. I am still surprised that guys don't seem ready for them sometimes...

Down:
Offensive fouls - That was the most offensive fouls I have seen in a game in a long time. A lot of them were pretty ticky tack, especially Royce's charge on the little guy.

3-point shooting - Continues to be a little down, percentage wise. Still made 7, but only out of 22.

TTech - Man they are not good at all. They may win a game or two, but the whole year is going to be a mighty big struggle for the fighting Gillespies.

Up: Booker. He played solid interior defense and went after rebounds. He is the player who has improved the most over the course of the season imo.

UP - Winning at Tech for the first time in 12 years. That is a huge task for this team. If we go down and beat Texas on Tuesday that is 3 wins in Texas for BB this year. It would only help get us to the tourney.

the texas game scares me, Texas is talented and they've lost a couple straight close games and there going to need this one at home

UP: Big Road Win--winning on the road when we were supposed to, that is huge.

McGee.

Winning a conference game without Royce putting up huge offensive numbers.

Down: Not much to complain about at this point! Just keep winning!

With all due respect it was only a 5 game losing streak to Tech on the road although it's been 12 years. We only played the teams from the south division once during the year so we alternate home/road games. I hate it when the media makes it out to be more than it is.

Up- McGee is playing awesome

Down- Ejim seems to shoot the 3 alot

Ejim only took 2 3's. The way some of you are acting, it makes it sound like he took 10. 2 isn't crazy.

My ups:

-McGee. He's playing with a ton of confidence right now and his defense is improving. Good to have him clicking while Babb is struggling with his shot. (But Babb is still playing good D)
-Defense and Rebounding. TT isn't good, but we still played solid defense and out rebounded them.
-
My downs:
-Post defense. Too many average post players are having good games against us.
-Fouls. It didn't hurt us and I didn't like all of the calls, but we can't have fouls like that against better teams.

Huge week coming up. We will have to play better against Texas.

He's 1/11 in Big XII play and 6/28 in regular season. Problem is he shoots the 3 right away. It's not a huge deal, just a down for me. Guys are playing great so hopefully we get out there this week and kick some ***.

True - but you never know when numbers like that can start to creep in the heads of players.

Very happy to know that you enjoy that segment! Thanks for sharing.

My apologies on yesterday. I had a family function back home and had all intentions to write this after the game, but never got around to it. Again, I'm sorry. Won't drop the ball again!

Here's an abbreviated version...

PLAYER OF THE GAME

Tyrus McGee - The junior is playing on another level right now.

3 UP

TCB GAME - That was what I call a "taking care of business" game. The Cyclones were better than Texas Tech. The Cyclones went on the road and comfortably won a game that they were supposed to. Props for that.

Assist/turnover ratio - 16 to 11 and a handful of the 11 were the result of offensive fouls.

Chris Allen - It was good to see the senior bounce back with an efficient 14 point performance. Allen has some big games in him and I'm confident that we'll see a few by the end of February.

3 DOWN

Christopherson - Not being hard on the kid, but Scott Christopherson's 7 point performance marked the first time since Dec. 21 that he didn't finish a game in double figures. Christopherson went 2-for-9 from the field.

...That's about it. It's hard to come up with 3 "downs" from that game. 24-point league road wins are tough to get picky about you know?

Chris what's your take on ISU's post defense? I posted on here that I saw Booker playing the best post defense I've seen from him all year; at the same time this has been a problem for us in conference play with opponents' big men role-players having career games against us (Texas-Chapman, Kansas-Withey, Tech-Lewandowski)...

Up

Allen didn't force shots and looked very good in the shots he took yesterday. He's figuring out the role of a pg a little more each game. I'm starting to be sold on him.

Ejim pump faked and drove to the basket a few times instead of clunking a three. This resulted in not only his better offensive numbers, but drew quite a few fouls. Please no more 3 point shots with 25 seconds left on the shot clock.

CFH Remember how bad our defense looked early in the year? Remember how bad our offense was with Scottie at the point? This team has made significant progress and that reflects on CFH's ability to be a head coach at the Big 12 level.

Down

Babbs still in a slump. I don't think I've ever seen a player who is either on fire or cold like he is. Still plays great defense.

Scottie - he was not a thug yesterday, but it happens once in a while.

Free throw shooting - Did not shoot many yesterday, but it remains the Achilles heal of this team.

Up:
-Team chemistry...guys are playing much better together and taking on roles, finding roles they need to play even as the lineup changes throughout the games.
-Teams confidence. Most of the time, they look like they know they are good and doing things right. I feel like we're forcing less shots lately.
-Taking the ball up the court...finding people to handle the ball.

Down:
-Babb's shooting confidence...but he'll get it.
-Inconsistant officiating. Just me, or is one game physical, followed by a tick-tacky game? This one we don't have much control of, just being able to recognize it early before we get in foul trouble, I guess. (I think we do as good a job at this as anyone can)
