Here's this weeks rankings.

At what point do people think wrestlers need to be excluded from the rankings when they haven't wrestled yet?

Once the conference dual season starts. If you aren't in the lineup by then when will you be? So this would be my cutoff. But Ohio State set some bad precedent with this in the Snyder years, so the rankings always include them.

Yeah there’s some weird stuff there. Austin OConnor 2? Dude is way to small at 157, and it was apparent with the Robb match.
I am curious what it is in the formula for the rankings that causes this to happen. Undefeated National Champion at that weight from the year before, better record in the past 3 years, beat OConnor this season. Is it bonus points scored that is impacting the ranking?

The guy has put together a mathematical algorithm to come up with the rankings. Like any of this sort, it's not perfect, but I applaud his efforts to remove human bias. Like any algorithm, it can have it's quirks which are exacerbated by small sample size. As guys get more matches, the rankings become better. If you look at his EOY rankings and their finishes, it's pretty good.

That said, the O'Connor thing is kind of curious and I would be interested in knowing what piece of the formula caused it.
