yep, there is so much of our fan base that doesn't give to our NIL. I think they don't understand. I mentioned in another thread I'm in a group chat with 5 other Cyclone fans. I implored them to donate to the collective. Here is the response to one of the guys in the chat. "I don't mind giving money via buying tickets, beer at a game, and even parking. But somehow raising money to expressly pay a 19 year old to play for us..just seems wierd to me."
I explained to him if we want great players to come here we have to pay, we may not like the way college athletics is going, but reality we need to pay. Anyway, I don't think a lot of our fans understand. If they are not on Cyclone Fanatic how would they know the situation. I have other Cyclone fans at my work, they have no idea about the collecitive or how it works. I will hit them up too.
I don't think this is it at all. I think people fully understand. What you guys need to understand is there is a certain percentage of people that just aren't going to participate for whatever reason.
In this current climate I don't blame them. I just went to Costco the other night, avocados have gone up $2 since January 20th, almonds about $2, salmon is now $37 bucks and it was around $33. My health insurance just went up another $100 bucks a year, property taxes went up, just got a letter in the mail from Mid-American my rates are going up.
When will it ever be enough? What's my cutoff, this year if I give $100 will it expected to be $1000, if i only give 10 bucks am I any less of a fan than someone who gave $50?
I already attended 2 games this year and with ticket demand that set me back about $350 bucks. Last year I spent almost $1000 going to see ISU in the Ncaa tourney.
It's just more, more,,more, more, more........while meanwhile we've been fear mongererd for 4 years now about how ISU athletics will be in the MAC soon, meanwhile we just played in the CCG in football and had back to back 3 seeds.
